Best PlaceJuice Reviews
First time here and will definitely return. Bar staff very welcoming, great choice of drinks and cheap prices! Big shout to Jennie and Brenda for making our day!
WOW, unbelievably rude bar staff. Sat ourselves down in back lounge (no room in front) music was at volume 11, asked if it could be turned down, told to move to front lounge if music was too loud, I told staff they were breaking health and safety laws and received a rather ugly sneer.
I avoided reviewing this pub the first time I visited as I was tired and not fully with it.
On return it's a historical pub with really poor staff who act as they please and care very little for paying customers.
Very friendly Laura's HOSPITALITY was fantastic we were made very welcome chatted with some locals Craig and friends will Definitely visit again next time we're in BERWICK
BRILLIANT real old pub. It's like going back in time to the 50's! The landlady Brenda is great fun and makes you feel so welcome. Wish I lived near, I'd be a regular. Prices cheap, if not cheaper than Witherspoon's!!
Fabulous local pub. Brenda the landlady is the heart & soul visit on a few Sunday afternoon when she's at the helm.
Visited this pub several times over the years...Going downhill fast.
I'm pretty sure that the ceilings or anything has not been cleaned since before the smoking ban in 2006.... The ceiling is a very dingy, dark brown and there is a spot where someone has actually wiped it with a cloth and it looks awful.
2 x ales on draught and 3 draught beers one of which was Guinness. The spirits are sitting among old grimy shelves and souvenirs from at least 30 years ago (probably more). The mixers are from large bottles and I couldn't see any fridges behind the bar with any bottled beers...
The locals obviously like it but the furnishings are so out of date and I'm sure that if the place was to be updated they would have to spend a fortune on it that it would not see a return on their money...
Will never return.
Quirky pub with a great hospitality. Hope the refurbishms t keeps its character!
On a train ride back to London and I saw the gorgeous river sparkling

Quick Facts About The Free Trade
in the sunshine. I decided to stop off at The Free Trade Place for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised. The bar staff were welcoming and friendly, making me feel right at home. They had a great selection of drinks available at cheap prices, which was a bonus. Special thanks to Jennie and Brenda for their excellent service.
One of the major strengths of The Free Trade Place, as commented by multiple customers, is the welcoming and friendly bar staff. A friendly and inviting atmosphere can make all the difference in a pub experience, and it seems like The Free Trade Place excels in this aspect. The staff's hospitality is praised, with one comment specifically mentioning Laura's fantastic hospitality. This creates a positive environment for customers, making them want to return.
Another strength of The Free Trade Place is the cheap prices of drinks. Multiple comments highlight the affordability of the drinks, with one comparing them to Wetherspoon's, a well-known chain of budget-friendly pubs. This makes The Free Trade Place an attractive option for customers who are looking for a place where they can enjoy a drink without breaking the bank.
The historical aspect of the pub is also mentioned as a strength. One comment describes it as a "brilliant real old pub" that takes you back in time to the 50s. This uniqueness and nostalgia can be a draw for customers who appreciate the charm and character of historical establishments. The landlady, Brenda, is also praised for adding to the welcoming atmosphere and making customers feel at home.
However, there are also weaknesses that have been pointed out by some customers. One comment mentions rude bar staff who were unaccommodating when asked to turn down the volume of the music. This displays a lack of customer service and can be a major turnoff for customers who value a comfortable and enjoyable pub experience.
Another comment criticizes the cleanliness and upkeep of the pub. The customer mentions that the ceilings and furnishings have not been cleaned since before the smoking ban in 2006, leaving the pub looking dingy and outdated. This can create a negative impression for customers who value cleanliness and modernity in their pub environment.
Furthermore, the outdated furnishings and decor are seen as a weakness by some customers. One comment suggests that updating the pub would require a significant investment that may not yield a return on the owner's money. This highlights the potential financial challenges associated with revamping the pub to attract a wider range of customers.
In conclusion, The Free Trade Place has several strengths, including welcoming and friendly bar staff, a great selection of affordable drinks, and a historical charm. However, there are weaknesses concerning rude bar staff, cleanliness, and outdated furnishings. Addressing these weaknesses could enhance the overall pub experience and attract a broader customer base.
