I came during a holiday so I paid more than regular price (I think for lunch is around $13). Is a buffet, so nothing about it is healthy. A lot of Chinese food, Salty and greasy but good. I like the short ribs and the orange chicken the most. There's plenty of parking and located in a nice neighborhood. The restaurant is big and clean. Nice staff.
They have a decent selections of seafood. Not very happy with the dessert options. Service is very good. It's obviously not a high-end buffet, but the price is good.
Not too bad of a selection. I just feel that some of the heat lamps need to be turned down a bit for some of the food. You can tell some foods are just over baking under the lamps like the salmon, honey mayo shrimp, orange chicken, and etc. It kills the quality of the food and the buffet in general. I got an egg custard bao and there was literally nothing(really) in it which was kind of comical. The beef dishes seem to be too sweet.
The sushi section was pretty nice, the salt and pepper shrimp was just ok it needed more flavor but had the crispiness. The chow mein was sadly bland as well. A lot of the buffet was one note and didn't taste authentic. Pretty average Chinese buffet if you know what I mean. It was $19.99 for the weekend price. With inflation going on I don't see myself recommending this or coming back. I'm a foodie so I had to try this spot out for once.
The place is clean a lot of variety of food. . and desserts. I recommended 100%
The food was good, classic asian buffet. The restaurant area is very clean and spacious the food selection is good, plenty of parking only the restrooms need some attencion!
It’s ok
Nothing special I payed 17 dollars on the weekend plus 2 dollars for a drink
I came hungry I left full, that is all
Not impressed, the variety is ok, not much actually. The ice cream sucks
The deserts aren’t the best.
17 dollars seems a bit overpriced since I mostly ate cheap Chinese food.
I probably wouldn’t come back
Good variety of mostly Chinese items, but they also have sushi. The true standout is the Mongolian bbq which is way better than the rest of the food. And they've replaced the soft serve with buckets of ice cream. I suspect these are thrifty ice cream because they were quite good! Anyhow, it's a perfect spot for a casual family lunch at a decent value.
Very clean, plenty space, food taste good.
You need stomach room to eat here.
Every time I go to eat at any place, I DON'T eat pork, shrimp, or seafood except by salmon , and now, for pesach, I need to avoid bread.
Quick Facts About Asian Star Buffet
Asian Star Buffet has several strengths that make it a popular dining spot. One of its main strengths is its affordability, as many customers mention that the price is good for the amount and variety of food available. Additionally, the restaurant is located in a nice neighborhood with plenty of parking, making it convenient for customers to visit. Another strong point is the size and cleanliness of the restaurant, with customers frequently mentioning how big and clean it is. The staff also receives positive reviews, with customers stating that they are nice and provide good service.
The restaurant has a decent selection of seafood, which is a positive aspect for customers who enjoy seafood dishes. However, there are some weaknesses that are also mentioned in the comments. One recurring complaint is the lack of healthy options, as one customer mentions that nothing about the buffet is healthy. The food is often described as salty and greasy, which may be a drawback for customers looking for healthier choices.
Some specific dishes receive mixed reviews, such as the short ribs and orange chicken, which some customers enjoy while others find them too salty or sweet. The dessert options are also criticized, with some customers mentioning that they are not impressed and that the ice cream is not of high quality. The lack of authentic flavors and the blandness of some dishes are also mentioned as weaknesses, suggesting that the food may not be as flavorful or authentic as expected.
Another common criticism is the use of heat lamps, which some customers believe negatively affects the quality of certain dishes, such as the salmon, honey mayo shrimp, and orange chicken. Additionally, a customer mentions a disappointing experience with an egg custard bao that had nothing inside. This inconsistency in the quality and taste of some dishes could be seen as a weakness for the buffet.
Price is also a factor that some customers find problematic, especially on weekends when the price is higher. One customer mentions feeling overcharged for mainly eating cheap Chinese food. This suggests that the perceived value may not be as high as expected for some customers, especially those with higher expectations or those who consider themselves food enthusiasts.
Overall, Asian Star Buffet has several strengths, including affordability, cleanliness, size, and good service. However, it also has weaknesses related to the lack of healthy options, inconsistent quality of certain dishes, and limited dessert selection. The authenticity and flavor of the food could also be improved. Despite these weaknesses, it still attracts customers who appreciate the variety of Chinese items and the standout Mongolian BBQ station.
