Landlord ignores you until he's served his regulars no matter how long you've been waiting. You get the feeling it's a local pub for local people. ????
Dog friendly pub, great atmosphere. Just an all round fab place to be.
Lovely open fires and a dog friendly pub, very good
Very welcoming pub with a nice cosy atmosphere. Sitting near the real fire I felt like I was in someone`s front room. My pint of Seasonal ale was very nice also.
Traditional pub, lovely fresh pint. Friendly landlord and patrons. Sat outside, limited seating. No children allowed. Cash only too.
Absolutely love it in here the landlord is fantastic ????????. He is so hospitable, he makes you feel so welcome. There a few locals that are friendly too. Such a warm and welcoming place to visit.
Great traditional pub off the beaten track.
Great Haunted pub, friendly atmosphere, Dogs very welcome and to top it all a down to earth very funny landlord. Great beer. the pub is haunted we had books flying off the table, pictures taken off the wall, someone plays darts at 3 o clock each day, doors slam shut when no ones there, the landlord can tell you all kinds of tales about the hauntings, so can we the locals who have experienced it.

Quick Facts About Tandle Hill Tavern

The Tandle Hill Tavern appears to have a mix of strengths and weaknesses, as highlighted by the comments provided.
One strength that is consistently mentioned is that the pub is dog-friendly. This is a positive feature for pet owners who want to be able to bring their furry friends along when they go out for a drink. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere is also repeatedly praised, with the pub being described as a "fab place to be" and the landlord being hailed as fantastic and hospitable. These comments indicate that the Tandle Hill Tavern has cultivated a warm and inviting environment for its patrons.
Another strength is the presence of open fires, which adds to the cozy and traditional atmosphere. This creates a comfortable and homely feel, with one commenter even stating that they felt like they were in someone's front room.
The quality of the beer is also highlighted as a strength, with descriptors such as "fresh" and "very nice" being used. This suggests that the pub takes pride in serving well-maintained and tasty pints. Along with the beer, the traditional nature of the pub is appreciated, with a few comments mentioning the value of a great traditional pub that is "off the beaten track."
However, there are some weaknesses pointed out in the comments as well. One notable issue is the perceived prioritization of regulars by the landlord. One commenter notes that the landlord ignores new customers until he has served his regulars, regardless of how long they have been waiting. This may create a negative impression for customers who are not part of the regular crowd and could lead to frustration and a sense of being unwelcome. This is further reinforced by the comment about the pub feeling like a "local pub for local people," possibly suggesting a sense of exclusivity or cliquishness.
Another weakness mentioned is the limited seating outside, which may be inconvenient for those who prefer to sit outdoors. Additionally, the pub's policy of not allowing children and accepting cash only may be seen as restrictive and could limit its appeal to certain demographics.
Interestingly, one comment mentions that the pub is haunted, with tales of unexplained phenomena such as books flying off tables and doors slamming shut. While this may be a strength for those who are interested in the paranormal and enjoy a spooky atmosphere, it could deter others who are not comfortable with such experiences.
Overall, the Tandle Hill Tavern appears to have a number of strengths including being dog-friendly, having a great atmosphere, friendly patrons and staff, and serving good beer. However, it also has some weaknesses such as potential exclusivity toward non-regulars, limited seating options, and the policy of not allowing children and accepting only cash. The haunted aspect of the pub may be seen as a strength or weakness depending on individual preferences.
