Decent pub grub. The chicken in mushroom sauce was excellent, rump steak cooked to order and a good piece of meat. Burgers are tasty with generous cheese. Hunters chicken a little odd, never seen it served in a dish like that, reminded me of a lasagna. Overall thought the mains were good and enough to get me to go back in the future. But order wisel
Cheesecake was definitely frozen and just chucked on the plate. Poor dessert selection just 2 out 6 choices available. Seems poor planning in the kitchen
Service friendly and no issues. Oddly we had to pre-order a day ahead which I've never experienced in a pub before. It's not complicated cooking so unsure why so much advance prep was needed
Nice decoration, I like what they have done with the place
A cracking little pub in the middle of aberdare Town centre. The staff we're friendly and helpful , I had a mixed grill 10/10 best I've had in a while would highly recommend ???? ????
Lamb chops were supermarket frozen ,very thin, asked for rare they were well done, mushrooms served chopped so no flavour.
Received a 50% refund so in essence paid 7.50 for chips.
The two coffee machines didn't work.
Had to wait for the over worked & over wight staff to get stuff done.
The bar staff didn't have any clean cups for hot drinks.
It's not somewhere I would normally eat as it's probably Icelands frozen food anyway. Don't waste your money here, unless you have no teast but. You'll be disappointed.
Great wee pub, loved the chef (great guy with an eye for detail, General Manager for sure)
Advent calender surprises each day right up to XMAS.
Nice and clean toilets, awesome staff and very warm welcome for #WeeLassie
Thanks guys (looking forward to going back, maybe a dj night?)

Don't bother!
The attitude on the staff is absolutely disgusting,
The food also dreadful
My partner paid an extra £1 for cheese on a burger which they forgot and when he told a waitress she brought out a plate of two freezing plastic looking slices on a plate and dumped them down,
The kitchen staff also shouted "here go and take him his two slices of cheese" which everyone heard,
His burger wasn't cooked through and my gammon had a slight tang
He didn't eat any of his burger and the waitresses seemed more keen on going for cigarettes and gossiping,
As we left we left full plates nobody asked if there was a problem,
All the waitresses were sat around a table and went silent as we passed them and then giggled as we moved passed them! Mother's Day was an absolute disgrace with dessert being served as we ate our mains and we're told to hurry up!
Both times we didn't speak up as we knew we would have a ear full
Tables were filthy aswell.
We won't be back!!!
My girlfriend and I went for a Sunday lunch yesterday ( 20th November 2022) ... It was just about edible , While the beef was tasty and tender , The chicken was very dry and looked like the sorry frozen chicken fillets you see in Asda ,The Roast potatoes were just a husk with no potato inside , How do you make a roast potato that's empty ? ....the veg was very watery as if it hadn't been drained , All in all a very mediocre experience to say the least , And for the privilege we got charged £22 for both meals , ide say it was only worth around £7 or £8 at best ... Are we going back ? ... No , Not again , Once was enough .
We went for our Xmas meal was not disappointed tables booked for us with name on so we knew where we were sitting straight away. did not take long for meals to reach us nice size potions will go again thankyou

Quick Facts About The Bute Arms

The Bute Arms place has received a mix of positive and negative comments regarding various aspects of the establishment, including the food, service, atmosphere, and value for money. In order to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of The Bute Arms, let's break down the comments and discuss each aspect in detail.
Starting with the strengths, several customers have praised the food at The Bute Arms. One individual mentions that the pub grub is decent, specifically highlighting the excellent chicken in mushroom sauce and the well-cooked rump steak. Another comment states that the burgers are tasty, with generous portions of cheese. Additionally, someone enjoyed their mixed grill and rated it 10/10, considering it the best they had in a while. These positive experiences with the food indicate that The Bute Arms has the potential to deliver satisfying meals.
The decoration and atmosphere of the pub are also appreciated by some customers. One person mentions that they like what has been done with the place, indicating that the establishment has put effort into creating an appealing ambiance. Another comment describes The Bute Arms as a "cracking little pub" in the middle of Aberdare Town Centre, with friendly and helpful staff. These positive experiences with the pub's atmosphere suggest that it has a welcoming and enjoyable environment.
Moving on to the weaknesses, a few comments have criticized the dessert selection and presentation. One customer mentions that the cheesecake seemed frozen and just "chucked on the plate," while another complains about the poor dessert selection, with only two out of six choices available. This suggests that The Bute Arms may lack variety and attention to detail when it comes to their dessert offerings.
Service-related issues have also been raised by some customers. While one comment mentions friendly and no issues with the service, another complaint highlights the need to pre-order a day ahead, which the customer found unusual for a pub. This implies that the advance preparation requirements and potential inconvenience may be a weakness in the service provided by The Bute Arms.
Another significant weakness raised by multiple customers is the inconsistency and quality of certain dishes. One commenter mentions that the lamb chops were frozen and thin, and not cooked to their preference. They also criticize the lack of flavor in the mushrooms served. Another customer complains about their partner's burger missing the requested cheese, which was later brought out as two freezing-looking slices on a plate. Additionally, someone expresses disappointment with the Sunday roast, particularly with the dry chicken and empty roast potatoes. These comments suggest that The Bute Arms may have inconsistencies in the execution and quality of their dishes.
Other negative aspects raised by customers include issues with cleanliness, overworked staff, and a negative attitude from some employees. One comment describes the staff's attitude as "absolutely disgusting," while another mentions the waitresses being more interested in cigarettes and gossiping. In addition, someone states that the tables were filthy. These comments indicate potential weaknesses in cleanliness standards and customer service.
In terms of value for money, opinions seem to be divided. While one customer found the main courses to be good enough to warrant a return visit, another felt that the Sunday lunch was mediocre and overpriced. These differing opinions indicate that the value for money may vary depending on individual experiences and preferences.
In conclusion, The Bute Arms has strengths in terms of its decent pub grub, friendly service, attractive decoration, and positive atmosphere. However, weaknesses are evident in certain aspects, including the dessert selection and presentation, service-related issues such as pre-order requirements, inconsistencies in food quality, cleanliness concerns, and reported negative attitudes from some staff members. Considering these strengths and weaknesses, customers may have varying experiences at The Bute Arms, and it is important for potential visitors to keep them in mind when deciding whether or not to dine at the establishment.
