Best PlaceJuice Reviews

Had a great night.
Really friendly staff and a good selection of Gin.
Thoroughly recommended.
For someone who has only been drinking gin for a year, this place was a little overwhelming! Fortunately I was with some aficionados and the staff were also very helpful. The atmosphere is laid back, decor undoubtedly cool and drinks all presented with little flourishes - blackberries in my mulberry Gin. The menu is extensive, so I personally picked a flavour I like (red berries) and went with that.
I will definitely go back, maybe for gin tasting. A good end to the evening.
Very nice gins and even tonics! My Girlfriend who always hated gin loved her drink. Music is a little bit loud but always has been in whatever guise this place has been. Small venue but with plenty of seats an a small area for standing. Not cheap but worth it.
Popped in here the other night with a small group of friends on a Saturday.
The pros:
Very extensive list of gins, over 50 to choose from.
Drinks nicely served with a few different option from the run of the mill lemon and lime.
Nice friendly staff.
Good atmosphere (although the security guy inside seemed to stare at us for a bit when we came in).
Nice Fever Tree mixers we’ll priced
Nice cocktails well priced and well made.
The cons.
The vast gin menu has no information regarding the maker, botanicals used, or flavour of the gins on offer. With 50 to choose from it would have taken most of the night to go through it with the bar staff. At this price point, info would be helpful.
Some of the gins on offer are pretty expensive for what they are. I understand some small batch, artisan gins being pricey but over a tenner for a double Gordon’s/Bombay Saphire and tonic is daylight robbery. Either don’t serve it or sort the price out.
Somewhere with these prices needs to up its offering. Table service would be a real plus.
Cocktail offering was limited and not many had gin in them.
In summary.
It’s a nice bar. Something a bit different in a small town. Nice to see someone offerering an alternative to the usual pub/bar formula. Somewhere this pricey needs to have the service and detail to suit. I am a self confessed geek, and would like to see more information on the menu about the gins on offer. P.S Surely a Plymouth Navy Proof gin should have a place on this list in a place like this? Maybe not that refined but definitely of note.
I would go back, but would like to see a few changes to justify the spend and enhance the experience.
Not bad, but nothing special. It's on the expensive side, and I would have liked more detail on the menu about the different gins. I appreciate that the bar staff may be able to offer that information but that's not easy if the bar is busy.
Not a venue I'll rush back to.
Popped in to see what all the hype is about and was dead excited to go somewhere new.
In my opinion it is all hype. Lots of drinks to chose from but no staff to serve as their noses were buried deep in their phones. Overheard a member of staff (I assume some kind of manager) being rude about someone and not the kind of words you want to hear when you want a drink.
More like a pretentious palace than gin palace. Left the ‘palace’ after waiting, not just because of the wait but because the atmosphere was a bit dull and it was cheaper to buy a bottle from supermarket / get 2 rounds else where, so we went across the street which was so much better
Sorry
If you like your gin this is the place for you.
Not a big fan myself but after a visit here I've learned that there are far more than I imagined.
Here there are at least 30, many of them artisanal, and ethusiastic knowledgeable staff on hand to help you enjoy them to their fullest.
Up-market and a little bit different, certainly for Bishop's Stortford. Walks the line between classy and Towie.
Blink and you'll miss it walk by, literally just round the corner from Boots pharmacy.
There is little else on offer apart from a few nibbles, and other drinks are severely limited - shame.
Usually very quiet before 10pm.
One of the directors / business partners was present....and maybe the atmosphere would have been slightly more upbeat if he had been less gruff! There seemed to be a slightly awkward air about the place until a large group of customers walked in.
Had a nice time at the Gin Palace. Very polite and knowledgable staff advising on a high quality gins. It was nice to learn about all different types of gin, mixers and garnishes. Will be back to sample more gins.
