Overall good, flavor was pretty bland but they have been in business for 48 years. Maybe this is how Billings residents like Mexican food. Price was good. $14 for a burrito smothered, rice, beans, and a drink. It's pretty much self service outside of ordering. Sign on the door said they are short staff. My food came out quick during lunch hour. Free chips and hot sauce (not much flavor). The building is pretty run down but I'll call it "charm". They have a few free parking spots along the building. I'd go back, if I wasn't up for searching for a new spot.
I used to really like Sara's, but we ordered to go today and were very disappointed. The rice wasn't cooked all the way and was very crunchy. I ordered a barito and ended up getting the contents of the barito in a to go that was sloshed all over and the shells were separate.
The service was great. The staff was very friendly. The pork green chili was not good at all, and they only put maybe a 1/4 of a cup on the burrito.
The food was good but, the service well it was lack lustering.
Happened to be near there today.
Very good food and still reasonable.
What a shame. Used to be a good place to eat until a few years ago. Now I believe Taco Bell is a better option. Obviously the grandsons don't care enough to keep the biz going & are driving it into the ground day by day, week by week. So long Sarah's, I enjoyed it while it lasted but I'll never visit again.
They don’t deserve any stars. I was in here with a friend and the owner was so rude and even yelled for me to get out. I just asked for sour cream for my friend and he was rude said there should be up charge. I told him I picked off the tomatoes off my stuff so there should be no up charge. He offered me a refund and I told him I didn’t need a refund and he yelled at me to get out. I grabbed some napkins for my food I was eating outside and he kept yelling me to get out. This is not customer service. He even mentioned that he knew I was OCD. So if I’m OCD don’t yell at me.
Friendly, kind atmosphere & amazing food! The gentleman who is always running the show works hard to serve the customers AND cook for them too! Highly recommend!

Quick Facts About Sarah's Mexican Food

Sarah's Mexican Food place has been in business for 48 years, which indicates a level of success and resilience in the industry. This longevity is a strength, as it suggests that they have a loyal customer base and have consistently provided a service that people enjoy. Additionally, the price of $14 for a burrito, smothered in rice, beans, and a drink, is considered good value by the commenter. This affordability may attract more customers, especially those on a budget.
Despite these strengths, there are noticeable weaknesses within Sarah's Mexican Food place. One commenter mentioned that the flavor of the food was pretty bland. While this could be subjective, it does suggest that their offerings may not be as flavorful as other Mexican restaurants in the area. This could potentially deter customers who are seeking a more authentic and flavorful Mexican dining experience.
Another weakness highlighted in the comments is the self-service aspect of the restaurant. While some customers may appreciate the efficiency of ordering their food, others may value a more personalized dining experience with full-service staff. This lack of attentive service may be off-putting for some customers, especially those expecting a higher level of service.
The run-down appearance of the building is also mentioned in the comments. While one commenter calls it "charm," it can also be seen as a weakness as it may give the impression that the establishment is not well-maintained. This could lead potential customers to question the cleanliness and overall quality of the food and service.
In terms of the food quality, there are mixed reviews. One commenter mentions that the food was good, while another states that the rice was undercooked and crunchy. Inconsistencies in food preparation can significantly impact the dining experience and may discourage customers from returning.
The limited portion of pork green chili on the burrito is another weakness. Customers often expect generous portions of toppings to enhance the flavor and overall satisfaction of their meal. A quarter cup of pork green chili may be considered insufficient by some customers, leading to disappointment and the perception of poor value.
Another negative aspect mentioned in one of the comments is the decline in the quality of the food and service over time. This suggests that there may have been a lack of effort or attention from the current owners to ensure the continued success of the business. This decline in quality could be a result of a lack of investment, management issues, or an overall lack of care from the owners.
One commenter even goes so far as to say that Taco Bell is a better option. This indicates the level of dissatisfaction and disappointment some customers may feel towards Sarah's Mexican Food place. The perception that the owners do not care about maintaining a high standard of service and quality could be a significant weakness that potentially drives customers away.
However, there are positive comments as well. One commenter mentions that the service was great and the staff was very friendly. This demonstrates that Sarah's Mexican Food place has some strengths in terms of customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere. The hard work of the owner in serving customers and cooking for them is also highlighted, which can contribute to a positive dining experience.
In conclusion, Sarah's Mexican Food place has certain strengths, such as its long-standing presence in the community, affordability of the menu items, and friendly service. However, weaknesses can be seen in the bland flavor of the food, self-service aspect of the establishment, run-down appearance of the building, inconsistent food quality, limited portions of toppings, and a decline in overall quality over time. It is important for Sarah's Mexican Food place to address these weaknesses in order to improve customer satisfaction and compete effectively in the market.
