Quick Facts About Forum Plaice Fish Shop

Forum Plaice Fish Shop receives a mix of positive and negative comments from customers. It is important to analyze these comments to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the place. Here is an examination of the comments:
Starting with the strengths, one customer mentions that the portions at Forum Plaice Fish Shop are very good in size. This is an important aspect for many customers, as they want to feel satisfied after a meal. Another positive aspect highlighted is the service. A woman in the shop knew how to serve the fish and chips properly, layering them in a way that enhances the taste. This attention to detail sets Forum Plaice apart from other fish and chip shops that simply dump scraps on top and season afterward. The customer goes on to say that it was the best tray of fish and chips they've had in a long time. This testimonial speaks highly of the quality of the food.
Moving on to the weaknesses, there are a few negative comments that raise concerns. One customer describes their experience as the worst fish and chips ever. They complain about the batter being too thick and the fish being overcooked, resulting in a mushy texture. This is a major drawback, as the quality of the fish is crucial when it comes to fish and chips. Additionally, another customer mentions that the fish they received was paper thin, hard, and overcooked, and the chips resembled scraps. This inconsistency in the quality of the food is a red flag. The customer states that they have given the shop multiple chances but have been disappointed each time.
Another weak aspect highlighted by a customer is the burnt batter. This indicates a lack of attention to detail in the cooking process. The customer also reports getting sick after eating the fish and chips, suggesting a potential issue with food safety and hygiene.
Furthermore, one customer criticizes the prices of the food, stating that it is really expensive for what they received. They recommend that the shop updates their price list, which is on display. This could be off-putting to potential customers who are looking for value for their money.
However, amidst the negative comments, there are positive testimonials as well. One customer mentions that the food at Forum Plaice Fish Shop is great and the portions are extremely generous. They specifically praise the fish and spam fritters. Additionally, the staff are described as friendly and chatty, establishing a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers. This testimony positions Forum Plaice Fish Shop as one of the top three fish and chip shops in the area, surpassing other renowned establishments.
In conclusion, Forum Plaice Fish Shop receives mixed feedback from customers. Its strengths lie in the generous portion sizes, attentive service, and overall taste of the food. However, there are weaknesses that should not be overlooked, such as inconsistent quality, burnt batter, potential food safety concerns, and high prices. Identifying and addressing these weaknesses will be crucial for Forum Plaice Fish Shop to improve and attract more satisfied customers in the future.

Very good size portions.
Woman also knew how to serve them. Chips then a few scraps on, salt n vinegar, fish on top then more salt n vinegar. Most places just dump scraps on top of fish and add salt after so chips are not seasoned. Best tray of fish and chips I've had for ages.
Had Fish & Chips from here today, safely say the worst Fish & Chips ever, batter way too thick and the Fish was overcooked, therefore like mush, actually very expensive to be put in the bin.
Staff were really nice tho
A couple of months ago this review would be similar to most others on this site by singing the praises of this fish and chip shop in Billingham Town Centre, but…
About six weeks ago we bought fish and chips. We expected the usual well sized and cooked to perfection fish and the nice full length, plump chips we had became accustomed to from this shop. Instead, we got paper thin fish, which seemed hard and overcooked and chips that resembled scraps. Most of it went in the bin.
We thought it must be a one off, everyone has a bad day. We gave fish and chips a miss for a couple of weeks, then tried again. Oh dear, it was a repeat of the time before. We have just given this fish shop a final try and to be honest, it will be the final time. I don’t know what has happened in this shop, but will not be giving them another chance. Heroes to zeroes in six short weeks!
Very nice chippy, great portions as well!
Got fish and chips last week. The batter was burnt but the fish seems ok maybe a little under done with mushy peas it wasn’t it’s usual next day my husband and I were as sick and had the runs All day. We won’t be going again. That’s the only meal we had that was the same.
Really expensive only bought small chips with cheese on £3.90 the prices they need to update their price list which is on show
Great chippy. Food sizes are huge, extremely generous portions. Fish is made to order when you walk in and the large ones are basically a whales. I'm a big fan of the spam fritters! All the staff are great. Very friendly and chatty. One of the very best in Billingham. Definitely in the top 3.
The best of the bunch! Better than the magpie in Whitby in my opinion.
