Quick Facts About Dukes Head

Dukes Head place has several strengths and weaknesses, as mentioned in the comments provided. To begin with, the pub has a decent selection of well-kept beers, which is a positive attribute. This suggests that they prioritize the quality of their beverages and have a good variety for customers to choose from. Additionally, the pub offers great pub grub at reasonable prices. They are also willing to accommodate customer requests for specific dishes as long as they have the necessary ingredients. This flexibility can be seen as a strength, as it allows customers to have more control over their dining experience.
Furthermore, the comments mention that the landlord and regulars of the pub are friendly. Having a welcoming and sociable atmosphere can greatly enhance the overall experience for customers. It creates a sense of community and encourages patrons to return. The fact that there is a pug dog named Eric, who is described as being grumpy but lovable, adds a unique and endearing aspect to the pub.
Another strength mentioned is the comfort of the bar and snug areas. While one end of the pub is described as being a bit "kitchen table," suggesting a less comfortable seating area, the bar and snug are noted as being more comfortable. This is important as it ensures that customers have a pleasant and cozy environment in which to relax and enjoy their drinks and meals.
On the other hand, there are also several weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer describes the general feel of the pub as sordid and not clean. They specifically mention that the WC and shower installations seem to be a joke, with low height restrictions and overall poor maintenance. This is a significant weakness, as cleanliness and hygiene are important aspects of any establishment, especially one that serves food and beverages.
Another comment mentions poor value for money compared to other venues in the same price range. This suggests that customers may feel that they are not getting their money's worth when dining or staying at Dukes Head place. Additionally, the lack of availability of food in the evening, despite the initial expectation that the pub served food, is seen as a disappointment and could lead to customer dissatisfaction.
Furthermore, there is a negative comment regarding the unprofessionalism of the staff. The customer recounts a frustrating experience of trying to book rooms and being promised call backs that were never received. This implies poor customer service and communication, which can greatly impact the overall reputation of the establishment.
Despite these weaknesses, there are positive comments regarding Adrian and Julie, who hosted a birthday party at the pub. The customer praises their exceptional service, range of food options, and generosity. This demonstrates that the pub has the capability to provide excellent service and cater to special events successfully.
In terms of the accommodation, there are mixed reviews. One comment mentions that the room was old and shabby, but clean. This suggests that while the facilities may not be in the best condition, they are at least maintained to a satisfactory level of cleanliness. On the other hand, another comment describes the rooms as basic but clean, which can be seen as a positive attribute for guests who simply need a clean place to sleep.
Overall, Dukes Head place has strengths such as well-kept beers, great pub grub, friendly staff, and a comfortable bar area. However, there are weaknesses in terms of cleanliness, value for money, and professionalism. These areas could be improved upon to enhance the overall experience for customers and to create a more positive reputation for the establishment.

Best PlaceJuice Reviews

It's OK - give it a go! Decent beer, seems to be well kept. Great pub grub, reasonably priced, they'll make anything for you so long as they have the ingredients - just ask. Friendly landlord and regulars. And there's Eric, who is just so angry to be a pug dog, you just got to love him! Don't worry - he may grumble when he first sees you, but he's a softy really. It's a bit "kitchen table" in one end, but the bar and snug are much more comfortable.
Recently moved into the area.
Great place, very friendly and a proper old skool fill to the establishment, always someone to chat to and the owners are great.
Had liver and bacon the other night and it was cook to my liking.
For a local, it doesn't get any better. All staff are great and very welcoming.
Keep up the good work.

Probably one of the worst places I've ever been.
The general feel on it was sordid and not clean at all. The WC and shower installations seems to be a joke (maybe if you are not over 1 meter tall will be able to have a shower).
I'll absolutely not recommend it even to my worst enemy.
At least, people working there was gentle.
Poor value for money compared to other venues I've stayed in for similar money. Hotel room generally grubby and dusty. There was no food available in the evening. I'd used the fact they served food when making the booking............ Disappointed.
I called on Wednesday trying to book rooms for next week as my family are visiting the area for a funeral. Four rooms in total. They said they would hold rooms as there was availability but they had to check a couple of things.
I was promised a call back the following day, as the systems were down but did not receive one. I called again on Thursday. Noone could help but was promised a call. No one called back.
Called Friday lunchtime and was told maybe they had the wrong number (I had double checked the number on both previous occasions). The lady I spoke to then read out my number in full correctly with the exception of one, deliberately I assume to avoid culpability. I called in the evening to be told the rooms that been held had been sold.
Most unimpressed and my perception is an incredibly unprofessional outfit.
Adrian and Julie hosted my wife Sarah's 40th birthday party on the 23/03/13, Adrian provided us with various options for food, music etc and we settled on what in my opinion was an excellent deal for a full Hog Roast, two types of buffet, a variety of salads and side dishes with disco included.
It was an absolutely fantastic evening, we had IRO 70 guests and the food was excellent and in abundance, the Hog was cooked to perfection, (cracklin was served in beer glasses) and the buffet dishes were fantastic and very popular with our guests. The quality of the food was in a word "superb" and was certainly a WOW factor for the evening.
Nothing was too much trouble for Adrian and he worked really hard to ensure that we were happy and that everyone was having a good time. The ladies loved the disco as much as the chap's enjoyed the Hog Roast and the excellent beer - oh, and did I mention the excellent beer!!!
Adrian and Julie are both exceptional and generous hosts, both Sarah and I have no hesitation in highly recommending them, their food and their establishment and wish them every success in the future.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room old and very shabby but clean. Full English breakfast included - more than we could eat! Free car parking a bonus.
Nice clean basic rooms, perfect for those people who just need a clean place to sleep. Breakfast was very good well cooked and presented, good sized portion as well.
