Great little site, called to see if there were any pitches available for a motorhome in the February half term holidays. Richard and Linda explained that they weren't open until April but agreed to let us stay for 3 nights. We were visiting Cwmcarn mountain bike trails and couldn't find anywhere open locally. This site is ideal for the trails, just a 15 minute cycle to the trail centre along the canal. The toilet and shower room was very clean and tidy. There is Electric Hook Up and fresh water tap. You really couldn't ask for a more friendly welcome and Richard and Linda were always happy to give advice on the local area.
Can't wait to come back in the summer when the tea room is open.
Lovely afternoon at wysoms wharf enjoying a light tea. Owners are really friendly and it's reasonably priced. Beautiful location on the canal too
Lovely little site. I was on my own and am going back next week too. Richard and Linda are a welcoming couple and can't do enough to help. Toilet and shower facilities available. Safe and peaceful site. Tearoom closed due to Covid but when it reopens there are lovely views of the canal from there. Good local walk along the canal.
Good stop to have a break. Tea,coffee, breakfast and a good selection of home made cakes. Cooked breakfast always good with pleasant surroundings of canal and trees. The main man is on site and always happy to have a good chat to put the world to rights.
Boat trip on the canal may be possible.
Richard and Linda were fantastic hosts, very friendly and accommodating. Price to camp there for the night was very reasonable.
Beautiful location, ideal stop for touring cyclists (my case as I was cycling across Wales) or hikers as it is located just off of national cycle route 47.
We rented a caravan for 2 nights as we were mountain biking at the trails in Cwmcan. Richard and his wife could not have been more friendly or helpful. We were made to feel so welcome from the outset and the caravan was clean and well equipped. The site facilities were great and the trails are only a 2 mile cycle along a flat canal towpath which warmed our legs up nicely for the hard climbs. I fell in love with Richard's Welsh collie 'Derran' and wanted to take him home. The site was peaceful and close to the shops and restaurants of Risca. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to others, especially mountain bikers or walkers.
Our favourite drop-in tea room, beautifully situated on the Crumlin Arm of the Mon and Brecon Canal.
When you are walking the canal, don't pass by without calling in, and experience an alfresco meal with the added bonus of cover if the weather changes. There as also been additions to the menu - ice cream which you have to taste before leaving.
Had a wonderful stay here, lovely site, beautiful views, excellent clean facilities, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. I had only planned to stay a couple of nights, but liked it so much I stayed for a week, was made to feel very welcome and at home !! It's very well situated, local superstores etc, within a short walk/drive, plenty of things to see and do locally and in the surrounding areas. The site also has its own tea rooms which serve delicious and reasonably priced breakfasts and home cooked meals and deserts. Without a doubt the most pleasant and comfortable campsite I have ever stayed at. Thanks for a lovely stay, will absolutely be returning again...and again!
