I ALWAYS have a positive experience at Uhuru Salon! There is a comfortable, easy-going atmosphere that encourages patrons to relax and interact with their stylists and with each other with a sense of community and comeraderie. Patrons are asked to wear masks and wash their hands upon entering in order to maintain a safe, healthy environment. The owner/hair care specialist, Erica, is a creative stylist who provides her clients with beautiful works of hair art that garner admiration and compliments from everyone who sees it! Her in-depth knowledge of hair and scalp health has helped me to achieve and maintain beautiful, strong, healthy hair ever since I have had the privilege of sitting in her chair! She is also a master colorist who can provide her clients with a vast array of color choices! All the stylists are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and they assist each other in helping to make each client's visit a pleasant, positive and memorable experience.
I’ve been the the salon before, and the atmosphere is always amazing. The stylists are always so attentive and welcoming, and the other patrons are always friendly and willing to talk. I started my locks today, and Ms.Latonya was fast while still being careful. We were able to have a quick talk about what I wanted my hair to look like, and she heard me. After she finished, I ended up loving my hair even more than I thought I would. My family loves this place, and so do I.
Got starter locs here. They turned out awesome. I was a walk in and Latonya took care of me. Very friendly and great service. Not only did the locs come out great but they are quite knowledgeable there on how to maintain and care for your hair. Nice environment with good music too.
I have been a client of Uhuru Salon for 15 years and I can’t speak highly enough of this Salon and Erica she the definition of perfection when it comes to loc re-twisting, styling and coloring. I always get compliments on my hair when it fresh and it continues as it gets older. My styles are everlasting as a result of her detailed work!
Erica and all of the stylist are professional, unpretentious yet undeniably cool, talented, and extremely accommodating with a unique vision to make the Client happy. Erica has been my primary Stylist, however I had the chance to experience LaTonya Yvette and she was equally amazing. Everyone is talented and really cares about natural hair. I highly recommend this place! I've been seeing Erica for 20 plus years and can't imagine anyone else doing my hair.
I absolutely love this place. My stylist is LaTonya and she provided education on the process and what to expect. She gave options for the retwist process and encouraged me to research the looks of each on my own. I felt confident in my decision after LaTonya educated me. The salon itself is so laid back and inviting. The atmosphere and energy is so positive.
Sara did a great job on my hair! I was extremely happy with the service she provided.
One thing I will say is that this is a very quiet salon. The first hour I was there and then sporadically throughout the rest of the time there was no music. The stylists didn't talk very much either. I hope we can get the music going and consistent at least on my next visit because I will for sure be back for the hair styling.
I started going to Erica for my locs and she’s quick, efficient, and fairly priced for her services. My locs are super healthy and gained a lot of length with going to Erica once a month. Highly recommend.
