Not been here for a few years but popped in tonight during our walk with the dog....made to feel really welcome, VERY dog friendly and will be back to try out the food!
Genuine traditional pub with good choices of Ales!
It had been some time since I had last visited the Red Lion, tucked away on the outskirts of the vibrant village of Wombourne and I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed. Although only popping in for a quiet drink there were quite a number of people in the separate dining area all enjoying a comprehensive array of homemade dishes in a wonderfully clean and well organised restaurant. The bar area is spacious, simple in its decor but very comfortable. Fine well presented beers & ciders were on offer and their quality was matched equally by the excellent friendly staff and locals.
A really pleasant experience, I will definately return again soon.
Well done Red Lion.
Great traditional pub with good beer and lovely staff. Food always looks excellent, though I've yet to sample
Having recently moved back to Wombourne it was wonderful to reacquaint with the Red Lion and now visit quite frequently. The Lion has great food and a great pint of Enville and wonderful staff. So my wife Ann and I would like wish Louise & Sue a very happy Happily Christmas not forgetting the lovely young lady (whose name I have forgotten, sorry) who serves at table with a lovely smile, a very Happy Christmas. ………
…….. ooops I seem to forgotten someone.
……… Happy Christmas Gary
I enjoyed food company and service what more could we ask for ? Well done Garry and girls for keeping the pub going in hard times ????
Traditional old Wombourne pub.
Compact and bijou with fairly dated decor - you could say it's part of it's charm.
Been to the Red lion for a meal on several occasions now and never been disappointed. Great food, great value and great friendly service. Well worth 5 star rating.
Had a nice well deserved pint when out hiking on a warm day. Lovely friendly staff. Has more outdoor space than I realised .
Shame it's not open in the day on a Monday and Tuesday.

Quick Facts About The Red Lion Inn

The Red Lion Inn, located on the outskirts of the vibrant village of Wombourne, has received various positive comments regarding its strengths. One recurring theme is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the pub, evident from the comments such as "made to feel really welcome" and "excellent friendly staff." This highlights the strength of the Red Lion Inn's customer service, which plays a significant role in creating a positive experience for patrons.
Another strength mentioned by multiple reviewers is the pub's dog-friendliness. The comment "VERY dog friendly" shows that the Red Lion Inn embraces and accommodates dog owners, making it an appealing destination for pet owners in the area. This strength can lead to increased customer loyalty among dog owners and potentially attract a wider customer base.
The Red Lion Inn also receives praise for its choice of ales and well-presented beers and ciders, symbolizing its strength in providing a selection of alcoholic beverages. The comment "good choices of Ales" and "great pint of Enville" suggests that the pub understands its customers' preferences and caters to their tastes. This strength is especially important for a traditional pub, as the quality and variety of drinks can significantly impact the overall experience for patrons.
The food at the Red Lion Inn is also mentioned as a strength, with comments such as "comprehensive array of homemade dishes" and "great food, great value." These comments indicate that the pub offers a varied menu with homemade dishes that satisfy customers' expectations. Additionally, the mention of "great value" suggests that the Red Lion Inn provides affordable and reasonably priced food, which can be an attractive factor for customers.

The pub's longevity is also noteworthy, as one comment mentions, "keeping the pub going in hard times." This demonstrates the Red Lion Inn's ability to sustain itself amidst challenging circumstances, reflecting its strength in adaptability and resilience. This strength can be attributed to effective management and a loyal customer base.
Despite these strengths, there are a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One reviewer describes the pub as "compact and bijou with fairly dated decor." This suggests that the Red Lion Inn may lack modern aesthetics and might benefit from a renovation or update in its interior design. While some patrons might appreciate the traditional and charming aspect of the pub's décor, others may find it outdated.
Another weakness highlighted is the limited opening hours on Mondays and Tuesdays, mentioned in the comment "Shame it's not open in the day on a Monday and Tuesday." This limitation can potentially result in missed opportunities for business or inconvenience for customers who wish to visit the pub on those specific days. Expanding the opening hours could help cater to a larger customer base and increase overall revenue.
In conclusion, the Red Lion Inn possesses several strengths, including its friendly atmosphere, dog-friendliness, choice of ales, quality of food, cleanliness, and resilience. These strengths contribute to its positive reputation and encourage repeat visits from satisfied customers. However, the pub should address its weaknesses such as the dated décor and limited opening hours to further enhance its overall appeal and attract a wider customer base.
