A really good place central to oswestry, friendly, excellent value for money food snd drinks. Thanks
I had my 60th birthday party at the Tankard this week. Everything went well Food and Staff brilliant lighting and Atmosphere set with good music made for a great evening. Thank you everyone ????
Plenty of room inside. Staff are very friendly and helpful. An excellent choice on menu......fresh food so 10 out of 10
Lovely food, great service, and reasonable prices. Now called The Tankard, the place has been completely renovated and looks great. We'll definitely be back.
Old school place. Menu is huge. Food is freshly cooked and really good sized portions couldn't fault it, one thing though being old school you need cash in your pocket they don't take plastic. Prices for what you get are good. Would definitely recommend you to try it.
Had food quite a few times and never been disappointed until last week. Ordered salmon. It had an extremely bitter taste. Struggled eating it and ended up leaving it. The next visit was for breakfast. The fried egg was barely cooked. Had to tell the very obliging waitress who took the whole plate back to the kitchen. Imagine our surprise when instead of a freshly cooked egg we got the same one back which had probably been put in the microwave. It spoilt the whole breakfast. Needless to say that was our last visit. No problems with the staff.
The staff are excellent. Food is really good. Good value. It is now called The Tankard. Would highly recommend.
Staff friendly and polite to chat to. Beer was good. Plus they have the rugby on, which I like.

Quick Facts About The Oswestrian

The Oswestrian Place, now known as The Tankard, is a highly regarded establishment in Oswestry. Customers praise the central location, friendly staff, excellent value for money, and the quality of the food and drinks. However, there are also a couple of negative comments regarding the quality of certain dishes and a limitation on payment options. This analysis will examine the strengths and weaknesses of The Tankard in more detail, focusing on different aspects such as location, atmosphere, service, menu options, pricing, and payment methods.
The location of The Tankard is praised by customers as it is central to Oswestry. This makes it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike, increasing its chances of attracting a large customer base. Being situated in a convenient location allows The Tankard to benefit from foot traffic and passing trade.
Another strength of The Tankard is the friendly and helpful staff. Customers appreciate their politeness and willingness to engage in conversation. This creates a welcoming atmosphere and contributes to a positive customer experience. The staff's good customer service skills help to establish strong relationships with customers, encouraging repeat visits.
Many customers also note the excellent value for money at The Tankard. This is an important factor in attracting and retaining customers. By offering reasonably priced food and drinks, The Tankard is able to cater to a wider range of demographics. Customers feel that they are getting their money's worth, which enhances their overall dining experience.
The extensive menu options at The Tankard are seen as a positive feature. Customers appreciate the wide array of choices available to cater to different tastes and dietary preferences. The fact that the food is freshly cooked and comes in generous portions is also highly praised. The pricing at The Tankard is generally seen as reasonable, considering the quality and portion sizes of the food. Customers feel that they are getting good value for their money. This affordability makes The Tankard accessible to a wide range of customers, ensuring a steady stream of business.
However, one potential weakness highlighted by a commenter is the establishment's cash-only policy. In an age where electronic payments are becoming increasingly popular and convenient, not accepting card payments could limit The Tankard's customer base. This may deter potential customers who prefer to pay by card or do not carry cash on them. In today's society, having the option to accept card payments is almost an essential requirement for businesses to cater to customer preferences.
Another weakness mentioned is the slight inconsistency in food quality. While the majority of customers praise the food at The Tankard, there are a couple of comments expressing disappointment with certain dishes. This inconsistency could be seen as a weakness, as it could impact the reputation of the establishment and deter potential customers from returning. Consistency in food quality and taste is crucial for maintaining a good reputation in the competitive hospitality industry.
In conclusion, The Tankard in Oswestry, formerly known as The Oswestrian Place, has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. These strengths include its central location, friendly staff, excellent value for money, extensive menu options, and reasonable pricing. By addressing these issues, The Tankard can further improve its offering and continue to attract and satisfy a wide range of customers.
