Lunch today, stir fried chilli beef. Very nice. Excellent service and a lovely view out across the Solent.
Visited again today, 25th September, whilst spending a couple of nights away on the island. Both occasions that we visted, the staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming and professional. We popped in for lunch on Saturday, received a warm welcome and lunch was good.
Decided to make the most of the September sunshine and had a lovely Sunday Lunch in the garden.
All of the staff were so very welcoming. Two lads and a lady were on and you honestly couldn't fault the service. Definitely an asset to the Pub, in addition to the amazing food. Thanks.
We drove down to Hayling Island for the day, and late afternoon, we ate at The Olive Leaf. The staff were very welcoming, and the Sunday roast was amazing!
Lovely food. 7 of us booked a table that day, Sunday. No trouble. Pretty much 7 clear plates. Which is a change for our children. ???? Will be going back often.
Unfortunately, we had a bad experience.
We selected this pub based on the menu that was published on their website. When we got to the restaurant, we were poor presented with a completely different menu. Apparently it had been changed 3 weeks earlier, but the website hadn't been updated.
We were then advised that their would be a 30 minute wait, as their was a large table in and we had to wait for their entrees and mains to be cooked before chef could start on ours.
Another table came in 20 minutes after us, and got their entrees before our meals arrived. The 30 minutes ended up being an hour.
We were hoping that the food would be brilliant to offset the shambolic service so far. Unfortunately, this was not to be the case.
The sea bass and the chicken and chorizo ballotine were both very dry.
The front of house staff did an admirable job in trying to rescue the situation, but the management of this venue is lacking.
My family members who were with me and live on the island say they won't be coming back.
Beautiful pub, friendly service, good choices behind the bar, nice garden for summer, free parking... have yet to try the food but hear its good
