We loved our ploughman and seafood salad. Freshly made, generously served, deliciously flavoured and mouthwateringly presented. Absolutely a delightful cafe by the cathedral. Highly recommended.
Stumbled upon this little gem one of the mornings before attending a meeting.. it was peaceful & welcoming and I was made to feel so welcome by the owners. I had a pot of tea and a sausage sandwich and they were both lovely. I shall definitely be returning before future meetings :)
I've walked past this place numerous times over the years but due to a couple of places we normally go to being full we popped in and had breakfast.
What a pleasant surprise. The staff were very friendly and the food was well priced and good quality.
Nothing special, arrived approximately 3pm and we felt we weren't welcome as staff appeared to be getting t o close. We chose meals off the menu and were told chef couldn't do them, choose something else! We were hungry, thirsty, and cold, otherwise would have just left, so chose coffee's and sandwiches, which were served with a touch of attitude, and whence paying the bill.
If, you want to get away at a certain time have the curtesy to say to people on arrival, not grasp for custom of two quick coffee's.
Plenty more to choose from, and we won't returning.
Lovely little cafe. Lots of original old fashioned beams and fire place. There are 4 tables downstairs and more upstairs but you need to be fit and mobile to get up the stairs as they're narrow and steep (as you would expect in an old building). Toilets are upstairs too. The food was tasty and hot and service was good
I went with a friend to this place our first visit.
On the whole we were very impressed with everything.
a) We chose to try their afternoon tea for two.
Both our selections of sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, & jam were all fresh and served up to us well presented within minutes (fairly quiet Friday afternoon) with as much tea and coffee as we could drink!
b) We thought the quality was more than acceptable, excellent VFM. £18 for the 2 of us!!
c) The place itself was cosy, and 'Bijou'
we sat upstairs enough space for 16,
Which my friend and I thought would be ideal for a small party gathering.
Will definately consider returning to this little gem.
Well worth a visit! ????????????
Very satisfied customer..

Great place for a bite to eat. Food lovely and quick and fresh. Staff very friendly. Place feels a little damp as old building.
