Best PlaceJuice Reviews

Loved this place, visiting the New Inn came at a perfect time. On a Saturday, we walked into Newport and found that none of the pubs/eateries in the centre of town served food between 3pm and 6pm. This was very disappointing! We were about to give up until we found the New Inn on our radar - it was a short walk out from the centre, which is why it wasn’t originally one of our options - and we were so glad that we chanced upon it! The staff were lovely and friendly from the offset and - most importantly - they were serving food.
Everyone in our group enjoyed the food and drinks, and the vegan options were very good! Banana blossom “fish” and chips is not a common menu item in the most populous of places, so to find this in Newport was a welcome surprise. The corn ribs - while delicious - were very messy. Normal ribs are pretty messy, I guess?
Pub started to get busy later into the afternoon, which shows that it’s a popular spot for locals and it made for a great atmosphere.
If you’re visiting Newport and don’t want to get disappointed by Bod, The Bridge, or Shakespeare and their weird kitchen opening times, just go to the New Inn. It’s most likely the better option regardless!
I am so disappointed. This pub was amazing for food and a great place to bring family and friends, but i was let down and embarrassed when i brought my friends for a meal here. We were first in and last to get food. When we received the food it was dry. The staff had to go and buy food supplys from waitrose as they had nothing in. They only good thing was the service from the staff. They were apologetic and gaves a very large discount and free drinks. Even their waitresses thought the food was shocking. The pub needs to get back on its feet fast.
Unassuming from the outside but lovely decor and layout inside - cosy corners if you want them. Friendly and attentive staff, a good range of drinks and an appealing menu. We went on a Sunday so the roast is the obvious choice, although the fish and chips went down well. Large car park across the road too! Would have been five stars if the food was next level up, eg if the gravy was homemade or the veg went beyond crisply boiled.
Excellent pub. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the food is good too. Worth a visit
Went for a Sunday lunch meal as never had a bad experience at the New Inn before. All started of great lovely drinks and starters.
Unfortunately when the mains came out the gravy was so watery it ruined the meal, when we approached the staff after we wasn’t table checked neither asked how the meal was no one came back over to discuss it further for the price I wouldn’t go back again.
Our go to place on a Friday early evening to start the weekend. Friendly staff, nice food and good beer. Deserves to be more popular than it is.
Gone right down in my estimation..been visiting for6 years'ish..ale was immaculate...great welcome...whoever has it now HAS NOT A CLUE...get a grip and get it back as it eas
Great lunch, seasoned chips, Gamon eggs and grilled pineapple a treat, Hunters chicken also tried and good beer and staff provided a relaxed friendly service, well worth a visit again.

Quick Facts About The New Inn

Strengths:
1. Food availability during off-peak hours: One of the biggest advantages of The New Inn is that it serves food between 3pm and 6pm when many other pubs and eateries in the center of town do not. This is a major selling point for visitors and locals alike who may be looking for a meal during these hours.
2. Vegan options: The New Inn offers vegan options, including banana blossom "fish" and chips. This is a pleasant surprise for customers, especially in a town like Newport where vegan-friendly options may be limited. This demonstrates a commitment to catering to a diverse range of dietary preferences.
3. Friendly and attentive staff: Multiple comments mention the lovely and friendly staff at The New Inn. This is an important aspect of any establishment, as it contributes to a positive dining experience. The staff's customer service skills greatly enhance the overall atmosphere of the pub.
4. Lively atmosphere: The fact that the pub starts to get busy in the afternoon indicates that it is a popular spot for locals. A vibrant and lively atmosphere adds to the enjoyment of dining and socializing at The New Inn. This is likely to attract more customers and contribute to a positive reputation.
Weaknesses:
1. Inconsistent food quality: One negative comment mentions that the food received was dry and that the staff had to buy supplies from Waitrose because they had run out. This inconsistency in food quality could be a problem for The New Inn, as it may lead to disappointed customers and a loss of reputation. It needs to address this issue and ensure better consistency in food preparation and availability.
2. Watery gravy: Another customer complained about watery gravy ruining their meal. This indicates a lack of attention to detail in the kitchen and suggests that the pub may need to improve its culinary standards, particularly with regards to sauces and gravies.
3. Lack of follow-up on customer complaints: In a negative review, it was mentioned that the staff did not follow up or engage in further discussion after a complaint was made about the watery gravy. This suggests a lack of attentiveness and a missed opportunity to rectify the situation. Improving customer service by taking proactive measures to address issues would greatly benefit The New Inn.
4. Decline in overall quality: One comment mentions that The New Inn has gone down in their estimation over the years. This suggests that there may have been a decline in the overall quality of the pub and its offerings. It is important for The New Inn to identify and address any ongoing issues to prevent further decline and maintain its reputation.
Overall, while The New Inn has several strengths such as food availability during off-peak hours, vegan options, friendly staff, and a lively atmosphere, it also faces weaknesses related to inconsistent food quality, lack of attention to detail in food preparation, inadequate follow-up on customer complaints, and a decline in overall quality. Addressing these weaknesses will be crucial for The New Inn to maintain and improve its reputation within the community.
