I've been here lots of times over the years, and i have never been disappointed. The food is always of a really high standard with a great choice on the menu. The bar is always well stocked, and there is a wide variety of larger, ciders and IPAs on draft. The pub is a lovely place to sit outside in the summer and is dog friendly inside and out.
Lovely gem of a pub to visit. Large outside seating areas for those warm days. Plenty of seating inside also and a lovely warm fireplace for the winter months. Food has always been delicious with home made chips ???? staff are friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend visiting ????????
Lovely hidden place by the old canal, food was excellent and the place is lovely inside. There is a dog friendly area, but it’s very small and ok if you are just drinking. Plenty of seating outside though on a nice day ????
Edit:- sorry, just been corrected, the dog friendly area is much bigger than I first thought...so a double thumbs, and a paws up, from me!
What a lovely meal...plus the staff were brilliant from start to finish.we will be back...oh and not expensive really really good.
Our first visit to this really lovely pub. The food was delicious and very good value for money, good beer and cider on draught and friendly staff. We enjoyed a 2 course meal in the restaurant then moved to the comfy sofas near the fire for extra drinks. We were made to feel very welcome. I found this pub on searchforsites as we were heading south on the m1 in our motorhome, looking for somewhere to have dinner. I phoned ahead and booked a table and asked if we could stay in the car park overnight, we were told we could if there was space. We arrived an hour later and the car park was plenty big enough for our 7m motorhome tucked award in the far right hand corner. Very peaceful nights sleep helped I'm sure by the food and alcohol we enjoyed in the pub! Thank you to all at The Boat Inn, we will definitely visit again when in the area and post our review on searchforsites so other motorhomers can enjoy the hospitality.
Hidden gem of a pub I stumbled upon after taking my daughter to feed to ducks. Called in for a beer and a coffee, then returned the following day for Sunday lunch. Both days we were greeting by very friendly and happy staff. Lots of different food choices available including vegetarian and vegan options. Food was reasonably priced and was served within 40 minutes of ordering even with a full house. Safe to say this was one of the nicest pub lunches I've had to date, along with good quality beers on draught. I will definitely be returning.
My only note is the pub may benefit from a website as I couldn't find any information for a menu without going in and looking at one, but that could be not looking properly.
We were in the area and googled pubs to eat. Looked good on the website. Pub is a nice mix of traditional with a clean modern look. Has a canal to one side with outdoor seating on a grassed area and a small climbing frame for the kids. Be nice to visit in the sunshine.
We both ordered the chicken burger. Both looked amazing when they came out. A breaded chicken breast. My wife's wasn't exactly how she wanted it, but a whole fresh replacement meal was brought out in good time. Both were excellent. The lime and chilli mayo really makes it.
A slight downside when we went to pay. We asked the young man behind the bar if we could settle the bill,he just said, "in a minute" turned his back on us and continued to stare at the food hatch waiting for food to take out. He was still staring at it when we paid another member of staff.
A little rude, but would not stop us returning, there are more dishes on the menu we want to try
We came here on recommendation from a friend, and were rather pleasently surprised.
The food is tasty, well portioned and fresh. It's reasonablly priced for the quality and there is a good range on the menu for everyone from pub classics to more adventurous dishes.
They have a good selection of beers, with real ales on tap.
I got the feeling that some of the staff are rather new, with a couple of minor service mistakes made... But you have to learn somewhere. You did a great job!
