Solid spot for late night tacos. Love that they have a trompo for Al pastor. They didn’t slice my tacos from it directly, which would make it that much better, but was a decent option for the late night taco cravings. Tried a few other meats, like asada, buche, cabeza and chorizo. Have to say asada and Al pastor were the stand outs here
I never like it when prices are not posted, but it didn’t seem very expensive for a burrito, 8 tacos and a large horchata. About $25, $30 with tip. Service was basic. Not very chatty, but efficient and quick.
Tacos Los Cuates has the best street tacos! I love getting their asada, pollo, and pastor tacos. Each pastor taco comes with slice of pineapple, which is a sweet touch. They have many other meat flavors too. The tortillas are hand-made on the spot. On Taco Tuesday, each taco is only $1 so it's a no brainer to come here! Go early because the line can get pretty long due to popularity. You can get all the toppings (cucumbers, radishes, pico de gallo, and different salsas) you want. They also serve aguas frescas. I love the cucumber drink with chia seeds. Tacos Los Cuates is located at the corner of Lower Azuza and Peck next by the Green Farm Market.
Street food Mexicano at its best and as authentic as it comes, beat all good restaurants and served in 2 minutes. California style at its best. My first meal as a Sueco visiting California.
I recommend the stuffed baked potato with either carne asada or al pastor. Both really yummy. Their choices of salsas and add-ons is amazing too!! ????
We got al pastor and buche tacos but the meat tastes rancid. It's as if the meat was dirty and gritty. I've never experienced anything like this. My dad believes they're using old meat and probably explains the low price point for the tacos. I don't get the hype about this place.
So I seen that potato on TikTok exited to share it and I came to big disappointed mess because I've never seen smaller potato like it's no Idaho and the service was really off the men looked so bothered to be there angry even if you tried talking to them you got side eye then they would telepathically communicate and I don't think was nice the tacos were ok tried the cabeza I'll still toy gave place and the meat even tho is grilled but then cut up and plac d into hot dish where it will sweat and changes the flavor from grilled to braised , hope was a day off they do have plenty of toppings but need to add a tad bit of salt or vinegar to some the red salsa was the highlight and that's no bueno
The best asada tacos. They moved to new location: 3333 Peck Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016
OMG. Now I know why people say that it's the best from El Monte. Delicious ????????

Quick Facts About Tacos Los Cuates

Tacos Los Cuates has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation and popularity. Firstly, customers appreciate the late-night availability of the restaurant, allowing them to satisfy their taco cravings at any time. The fact that they have a trompo for Al pastor is another strength, as it adds an authentic and traditional element to their menu. Although the commenter wished that the tacos were sliced directly from the trompo, the availability of Al pastor late at night is still appreciated.
The standout meats at Tacos Los Cuates, according to multiple commenters, are the asada and Al pastor. This indicates that the quality of these meats is superior and adds to the overall positive dining experience. Additionally, the inclusion of a slice of pineapple with each pastor taco is seen as a sweet touch that enhances the flavor.
The affordability of the food is another strength mentioned in the comments. The commenter mentions that a meal consisting of a burrito, eight tacos, and a large horchata only cost around $25-$30 with tip. This indicates that Tacos Los Cuates provides good value for money, making it an attractive option for customers.
The hand-made tortillas are also highlighted as a positive aspect of the restaurant. The fact that the tortillas are made fresh on the spot adds to the authenticity of the street tacos and enhances the overall taste and texture of the food.
Taco Tuesday is mentioned as a popular promotion, where each taco costs only $1. This attracts customers and adds to the restaurant's reputation for providing affordable and delicious street tacos. Additionally, the wide variety of toppings available, such as cucumbers, radishes, pico de gallo, and different salsas, allows customers to personalize their tacos according to their preferences.
The inclusion of aguas frescas on the menu, particularly the cucumber drink with chia seeds, is another strength mentioned in the comments. This shows that Tacos Los Cuates offers a range of refreshing and unique beverage options to complement their tacos.
Another strength highlighted by a commenter is the authenticity of the food. They describe it as "street food Mexicano at its best" and praise its authenticity and taste. This indicates that Tacos Los Cuates successfully captures the essence of Mexican street food, providing customers with an authentic dining experience.
On the other hand, there are also some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One commenter complains about the lack of posted prices, which can be inconvenient for customers. Although they mention that the overall cost was reasonable, having clear and upfront pricing would improve transparency and ease the ordering process.
Another negative aspect pointed out by a commenter is the rancid taste of the al pastor and buche tacos. They suggest that the low price point might be indicative of the use of old meat. This negative experience undermines the overall quality and reputation of the restaurant.
One commenter also mentions a negative experience with the service, describing the staff as "bothered" and "angry." They note that the men gave side-eye and were unresponsive when spoken to. This indicates a lack of friendly and attentive customer service, which can negatively impact the overall dining experience.
Furthermore, a commenter mentions disappointment with the stuffed baked potato, citing its small size and underwhelming taste. They also mention that the tacos were just average and that the meat was braised, changing the flavor from grilled. The lack of seasoning and the need for improvement in some of the toppings also detracted from their experience.
In conclusion, Tacos Los Cuates has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation, including late-night availability, a trompo for Al pastor, standout meats, affordability, hand-made tortillas, Taco Tuesday promotions, a wide variety of toppings, and authentic flavors. However, there are also weaknesses mentioned, such as the lack of posted prices, potential issues with the quality of the meat, negative experiences with service, and disappointment with certain menu items. It is important for the restaurant to address these weaknesses in order to maintain its positive reputation and ensure customer satisfaction.
