Wanted to provide my wife a much-needed spa day and found this place. Do yourself a favor and find another spa with more professionalism. My wife arrived for her appointment on time and had to wait 10 minutes to receive her towel and robe to dress into. Due to this delay, she had unpleasant experience with the nail tech who rushed her to sit and she did not feel relaxed from this moment on during the service. Not to mention, she said the foot bathtub was not properly covered with plastic wrap and it did feel very sanitary. The facial session was good, no problems with this portion of the service. The massage service was lackluster. She asked the massage therapist to apply more pressure in certain areas and instead of doing that, she felt nails dig into her body and scratch her. Overall, we will not be coming back to this place. I feel like I was robbed for the price I paid after my wife told me of this experience. Don't make the same mistake, you are warned.
My husband purchased a gift certificate for him and I for Christmas 2021. $600 spent so we could have a post- first baby spa day together. Called Spa Lamar several times and they won't take new reservations, instead I was directed to call Spa Scottsdale. Unfortunately, Spa Scottsdale is unable to honor the gift certificate we purchased from Spa Lamar (no surprise there, as this isn't their issue). However, to find out we are now out $600 for a gift certificate we cannot use at Spa Lamar and our only option is to spend money elsewhere is insane to me. How has this place not come under legal investigation? We cannot be the only people this has happened to.
I’ve enjoyed Spa Lamar for many years. I’m happy that the jacuzzi gets a little hotter now. I’m not as happy with the scaled down beverage/snack station. I miss the old prices as well. Right now, it just feels like prices keep going up with less and less ‘spa amenities’, ie, cheaper robes/slippers, smaller lockers, no steam room, less beverage/snacks, etc, etc. Regardless of the reasons for these changes, it’s not the greatest feeling for the customers, especially loyal long-time customers.
My daughter and I wanted to celebrate with a full day of pampering— We purchased a package consisting of facials-scrubs-wraps-massages- pedicures….-Today truly was the worst spa experience with a major lack in quality- there were so many issues from the moment we walked in the door-after 5 hours and $1100.00 we didn’t even stay for our scheduled pedicures due to being so disappointed with all other services rendered. I would never recommend Spa Lamar
Don't buy anything from Spa Lamar! I received a $600 day spa gift certificate in December as a Christmas present and tried to redeem it January. Left a phone message and received a text message back that they were no longer taking new clients and referred me to two other spas (Inspire Day Spa & Spa Scottsdale) to use our certificate. Neither one is connected to Spa Lamar and would not honor the offer; however, Inspire did offer 1/2 off their regular price. I was informed by one of them that they receive 3-4 calls per day on redeeming certificates from Spa Lamar. It appears the business has been sold or has closed. Be aware that Spa Lamar website is still up, they still have a working phone number, and someone is monitoring it. You won't speak to anyone directly, rather they will send you a text message instructing you to go to the other two spas to redeem the certificates, which of course means nothing. Don't buy anything from Spa Lamar. Wish I could leave a zero star review...
Update 8/25/22: I submitted a complaint to the AZ Attorney General's office. The AG's office, "Made numerous attempts to contact the opposing party, but were not able to obtain a response." That's all they will do, unless someone else files a complaint and they see a pattern of illegal conduct. So, those of you that had the same thing happen should file a complaint. Don't let Spa Lamar get away with taking your money.
My husband got me a $500 gift card for Christmas here. Today I went to make a reservation only to find out that Spa Lamar is closed for remodeling with no guarantee of reopening or honoring giftcards if they do reopen. They've partnered with another spa that is kindly offering a 50% value of existing giftcards at least. My husband was not informed of an upcoming closure when he purchased it either. I'm under the impression that there is new ownership and from my experience they certainly aren't conducting business with integrity. Very disappointed to say the least. Wish I could have given 0 stars.
I took my daughter for a massage and the massages were wonderful. The staff was super nice and accommodating. You can bring your own champagne, which is nice, but the pool and spa area is very small and the pool has no loungers. It has chairs to sit on but nothing to lounge out on. The place is also pretty outdated with faded furniture decor. The price for a massage is almost half of what you’d pay at a Scottsdale resort, so that is appealing. What this place lacks in style makes up for in friendly service and quality services.
A friend and I were able to get last minute (less than 24 hours in advance) massage appointments plus a walk in haircut for my friend. The staff were friendly and kind. Our massages were wonderful and the hairstylist was fabulous. I can’t say enough good things.
