Freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal. Alles wird frisch zubereitet. Typisch englisch, Essen und Lokal.
Wowser
Firstly, I liked the staff as they made me feel comfortable and were helpful and friendly. My daughter (3) really enjoyed the experience of eating here.
It's was nice and quiet.
However, it is very, very, VERY dirty. The tables were sticky, cobwebs everywhere and it looked dirty. The staff should have definitely been cleaning while they weren't busy. Our table even had a scratch card left on it and a lady came in and sat behind us and asked for it to bin because she left it YESTERDAY! So the tables hadn't been cleaned for 24hrs minimum! This lady was obviously a regular and was discussing the cleaning issue with her friend. They were saying how they liked coming in but it was getting ridiculous.
I liked the booths to sit in but the decor could use an update. The food is very greasy spoon and the chip and sausage were obviously just recooked/heated for us in a fryer. The coffee was alright, nice and large. It was all a great price for what we got too.
Not in the least impressed by this establishment. Firstly I was ignored by two staff members just walking past a few times whilst i stood waiting a while at the till, finally I was acknowledged ordered just 2 ice-creams To which hadn't taken notice of price until i sat down with my children and saw they was actually advertised on their board menu for £2.15 but had charged me £4.35 each instead! As my children was busy picking over their random looking sundae's presented to them saying it tasted horrible, i was really confused how the place was being allowed to operate - walls, floor, tables everything was vile, unclean, my opinion drastically not up-to a good enough hygiene standard. not to mention the toilets! - Then got worse, as another couple had ordered food (we was sat by the till area) overheard the lady ask if something on her order can be changed - this was followed up with a member of staff giving attitude towards her customer resulting her the customer then declining the food there and then as she was upset by the way she was treated. rightly so!. At that point i had heard and seen enough so my children and i left, leaving the half eaten sundae's and will never return to the grim place again!
Typical greasy spoon cafe. Decor is a little dated, although there are plenty of tables. Food came quite quick. Place could do with being a little tidier/ cleaner, but then again, you get what you pay for Very reasonably priced. Was quite busy when we went, so a few tables were piled up with dirty cups, plates and cutlery. Overall good and would go again.
Quite expensive compared to other cafes. large plates and usual range of food.Nothing special. Made a mistake on our order. They offer free kids meals with adult meals over £5 Could have been hotter. Not the cleanest place to eat.
The worst breakfast ever... Avoid always been fantastic but new owners omg. Fried bread was rock hard and full of greese hash browns full of oil mushrooms swimming in oil on plate toast not even toasted poor quality bread used. Hair nets not being used by cooks therefore hair ended up on our plate as shown in picture deffinatley avoid at all costs will never come bk
Good food and friendly staff. Breakfast was just as expected and hit the spot

Quick Facts About Friar Tuck Cafe

Friar Tuck Cafe has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Firstly, the staff receives positive feedback for being friendly and helpful, creating a comfortable atmosphere for customers. Additionally, the fact that everything is freshly prepared is another strength, as customers appreciate the taste and quality of the food. The cafe also offers a typical English dining experience, adding to its appeal.
However, one significant weakness highlighted in the comments is the cleanliness of the cafe. Customers mention sticky tables, cobwebs, and an overall dirty appearance. This is a major concern as it raises questions about the hygiene standards of the establishment. The lack of cleanliness is particularly problematic considering some customers reported tables not being cleaned for at least 24 hours. This may deter potential customers and decrease their willingness to return to the cafe.
The outdated decor is another weakness mentioned in the comments. While some customers appreciate the booths provided for seating, the majority feel that the cafe could benefit from an update in terms of its aesthetics. This can impact the overall dining experience and make the space feel less inviting.
Regarding the food, there are mixed opinions. Some customers appreciate the "greasy spoon" style and find the food to be satisfactory, given the affordable prices. The large portion sizes are also mentioned positively. However, others criticize the quality and preparation of certain items. The reheating of food, such as the chips and sausages, is mentioned as a negative aspect of the dining experience. The greasiness of the food and the lack of taste in certain dishes are also noted as weaknesses.
In terms of service, there are conflicting comments. While some customers praise the friendly staff, others report instances of poor customer service. Neglecting customers at the till and overcharging for items are mentioned as negative experiences. The attitude of staff towards customers is also criticized in a specific incident, resulting in a customer refusing their order. This inconsistency in service quality can have a negative impact on the overall perception of the cafe.
Additionally, the cleanliness of the toilets is highlighted as a detriment to the overall experience. Hygiene should be maintained throughout the entire establishment, including restrooms. Neglecting the cleanliness of such essential facilities can reflect poorly on the cafe's overall management.
Lastly, some customers mention that Friar Tuck Cafe is relatively expensive compared to other cafes. Although they acknowledge the large portion sizes and the offer of a free kids' meal, the overall cost is still deemed higher than expected. This may deter potential customers who are seeking more affordable dining options.
In conclusion, Friar Tuck Cafe has strengths such as friendly staff, fresh food preparation, and a typical English dining experience. However, it also has weaknesses including cleanliness issues, outdated decor, mixed reviews on food quality, inconsistent service, and higher prices compared to competitors. These weaknesses should be addressed in order to improve the overall customer experience and attract more patrons to the cafe.
