Cute little park. Wish the bathrooms were open, can't spend too much time anywhere with kiddos and no bathroom. Be careful around the far side of the lake, I got quite the startle when a snake sunning himself slithered out in front of me. Also the path around the lake needs some serious attention it is impassable without rain boots on.
I always love coming to this park, and have since I was a little girl. It's spacious with plenty of trees and woods to run around in, and has a safe playground for the kids and even an adult jungle gym! As well, there'a a baseball field that has enough space for a soccer pitch and an area to play tennis and so many parking spaces that you would be hard pressed to have to park elsewhere. There's even picinic tables and trash cans everywhere! I love this park.
Beautiful park especially in the winter ❄️
Great park with a small pond and a playground
Very clean park. The pond has a sufficient number of bass, so taking a fishing pole with you would be worth it.
South River Recreation Department throws a fishing derby in the summer for the kids at this park. A great way to start of the summer with the little ones!
Really nice park good parking easy to walk around a lot of people there fishing all had social distance
Great park clean

Quick Facts About Edward A. Grekoski Park

with lots of recreational activities to enjoy. The playground is safe and well-maintained, providing a fun space for children to play. The adult jungle gym is also a unique feature that allows adults to exercise and stay active while enjoying the park.
One of the strengths of Edward A. Grekoski Park is its spaciousness and abundance of trees and woods. This creates a beautiful and natural environment that visitors can appreciate. The park provides a peaceful and serene setting, particularly in the winter when the snow adds a touch of magic to the landscape.
The park is also known for its cleanliness. Visitors consistently comment on the well-maintained and tidy surroundings, making it a pleasant place to spend time. The presence of picnic tables and trash cans throughout the park further contributes to its cleanliness and convenience for visitors.
In addition, the park offers recreational opportunities beyond the playground and woods. There is a small pond that is suitable for fishing, with a sufficient number of bass for those interested in angling. Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of this and bring their fishing poles along. Moreover, the South River Recreation Department organizes a fishing derby in the summer, providing a fun and exciting activity for kids to enjoy.
Another strength of Edward A. Grekoski Park is its ample parking spaces. Visitors do not have to worry about finding a parking spot, even during periods of high attendance. This convenience eliminates unnecessary stress and provides a seamless experience for park visitors.
However, the park does have its weaknesses. One recurring issue is the closure of the bathrooms. This can be particularly inconvenient for families with young children, as it limits the amount of time they can spend at the park. Having functional bathrooms would greatly enhance the experience for visitors, especially those with little ones in tow.
Another concern is the lack of maintenance on the far side of the lake and the condition of the path around it. Visitors have noted that the path becomes muddy and impassable without rain boots, making it difficult to navigate. This issue not only restricts access to certain areas of the park but also poses a safety hazard as it increases the risk of slipping and falling.
Despite these weaknesses, Edward A. Grekoski Park remains a beloved and popular destination for many. Its strengths, such as the spacious and natural setting, clean and well-maintained surroundings, and diverse recreational activities, continue to attract visitors of all ages. With some improvements to the bathrooms and path conditions, the park has the potential to become an even better and more enjoyable destination for the community and its visitors.
