We have just had mums funeral wake here and from beginning to end the service was impeccable nothing was too much trouble. The staff made us feel welcome every time we called in. Monica was amazing and made the whole event run smoothly. The food was of high standard and there was plenty of it. I highly recommend 281 for any event and we are already planning to book again in the summer for a wedding buffet. Thank you 281 you are all amazing!
Stayed here at short notice as visiting friends locally. The staff were very accommodating, personal and flexible. The rooms are clean and quiet and we had a very pleasant good night sleep. It was a relief not to have to stay in a TravelLodge and we were able to walk to our friends house. Thank you!
I really can't give too much information about the hotel side of things, as we went there for food after a funeral. I can honestly say that that the food was very nice and a very good variety, in fact there was far too much for us to eat unfortunately. Highly recommended.

Very pleasant hotel. The hotel is currently under refurbishment with many rooms completed. Perfectly situated with shop, pub/restaurant nearby. 20 minute walk into town with frequent public transport into town and Nottingham.
Friendly staff who were very keen to please, but a very disappointing one-night stay. On arrival, although the room was clean, the toilet had not been flushed and the bathroom had a strong smell of stale urine...the presence of two used deodorant sprays on the side of the bath was also somewhat disconcerting. The welcome book in the bedroom was 8 years out of date with a comment from, I'm guessing,
the previous owners, 'We shall be updating all the bedrooms in 2014/2015'. The fire extinguishers that were propping open the fire door at the top of the stairs were a year overdue their service (as evidenced by the service label on the extinguisher) - a major health and safety worry.
The breakfast was poor - no proper coffee (just instant coffee sachets), no fresh fruit juice (diluted fruit squash instead) and only two choices of cereal. I'm afraid, the cooked breakfast did not appeal.
The place has the potential to be really nice, but it really needs to sort out some basic stuff first. Not a good experience.
The staff were very accomadating, they looked after me really well and made sure to put my interests first, would recommend to anybody looking for a hotel with friendly staff, good food and a comfy bed. 10/10
