What a hidden gem this cafe is. I cannot praise Anna and her team enough. I took a group of my students who have additional needs to visit the cafe today and the staff were incredible- so helpful, kind and patient. The food was beautiful; it tasted even better than it looked. They even had vegan options for my students who need dairy free options. Thank you Anna, Amy and Lexie for your help. We will definitely be regulars now!
This place is very popular and there's a nice atmosphere. The quality of food is good and the ladies working service are impeccable.
Despite this, I do feel I should have a chunk more change in my pocket for what we received. (2 breakfasts, 2 hot drinks and soft drink came in just shy of thirty pounds which even as a business owner feels a little exuberant)
If the business is booming though you're obviously doing something right, all the best for the future!
I called in after looking round the garden centre. I was greeted quickly and ordered a coffee and jacket potato. After only 5 minutes, I was asked if I wanted a free coffee as my jacket potato was going to be a while. Who even thinks a jacket spud is going to be a quick service?
It was well worth the wait!
Friendly and efficient service. Warm and comfy atmosphere. I recommend this venue. I will be back. Thank you.
Called into the cafe for a drink and some food with the children, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We were seen to promptly and the children we spoken to directly rather than myself being asked what they wanted. All staff had good manners and were full of smiles. I would recommend going even for a drink.
Went yesterday with my daughter, waited 45 minutes for our meal, when it came, our Turkey roll, was sliced bread, made very soggy with cheap sliced turkey, awful. Also, they charged £1.50 for 9 chips in a miniscule ramekin, and my daughter ordered a salad, again, miniscule amount, appealing service, no clean cutlery to be had, asked to speak to manager, who we were told are unavailable. We didn't pay, and walked out. Used to be really nice, with other owner previously.
Came into the cafe at 2.45pm on Sunday. The staff were stood around talking. They could see we were waiting to be served. All other tables were served before us, all of which came in after us. We asked twice at the counter could we order. Eventually they came to us at 3.05pm to be told we were too late for food the kitchen closes at 3pm!!
We upped and left. We have been going to this cafe since the day it opened many many years ago. Of course it changed hands now and the staff are very ignorant people.
We will not be going again.
Dreadful. 3 girls waiting on- no one welcomed us as we waited to be seated. Staff too busy on their phones and talking. One with fingers in mouth, did not wash hands. I gave up waiting to be served and ordered at the till. Waitress came up to table for me to pay and I mentioned being ignored. Was told very rudely that I’m supposed to order at the till- no signs to indicate this. One girl playing with her hair and sitting on her phone, Girl making drinks repeatedly had to ask the others to take cutlery, clean tables etc. they couldn’t work out which orders were for which table and long debates had by them. Drinks arrived and we were asked “can I get you guys anything else” (my mum is 78!!!).
Customers came in and were told “that side is shut”- no apologies or explanation. The other tables were full so customers left. Staff rolled their eyes and we all heard what they thought! This waitress was called Niamh. Wandered about aimlessly and looked totally bored and fed up. I might suggest customer service training as they certainly didn’t make us feel welc Me. Dreadful l experience.
Waited over ten mins for someone to take my order. Four staff just stood talking and seven dirty uncleared tables. Eventually got up to order.
Food was good but the service was dreadful

Quick Facts About The Roast Garden Cafe

The Roast Garden Cafe has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the staff are consistently praised for their helpfulness, kindness, and patience. They are commended on their ability to provide excellent service, particularly when dealing with individuals with additional needs. Another strength is the quality of the food. Comments mention that the food is beautiful, tastes better than it looks, and there are even vegan options available for those with dietary restrictions. This suggests that the cafe puts effort into creating delicious and visually appealing dishes, as well as accommodating a wide range of dietary needs.

Additionally, the cafe seems to be popular, as mentioned in one comment. This suggests that the cafe has a strong customer base and is well-regarded by the community.
However, there are also some weaknesses highlighted in the comments. One customer mentioned that the prices were on the higher side, with two breakfasts, two hot drinks, and a soft drink totaling just under thirty pounds. Another customer mentioned a negative experience with the food, noting that their turkey roll was made with low-quality ingredients and the portion sizes were small. They also mentioned the lack of clean cutlery and the unavailability of the manager to address their concerns. This indicates a potential inconsistency in the quality of food and can be a cause for dissatisfaction among customers.
Several comments mention poor service experiences. Customers mentioned long waiting times, staff members being rude or ignoring them, and a lack of cleanliness and organization. These comments indicate that the cafe may have issues with efficiency, staff training, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
In conclusion, The Roast Garden Cafe has strengths in terms of its inclusive and helpful staff, quality of food, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses in terms of high prices, inconsistency in food quality, and poor service.
