Unfortunately our room has not been cleaned upon check-in.
Pee in the toilet and loo roll. The sink AND shower had long hairs in them and the taps were stained.
The carpet was filthy and the stairs and halls hadn't seen a hoover in a long time.
This is unfortunate as we've stayed there previously a few months ago. I'm very disappointed.
On the other hand the bar area is lovely, inviting and clean, staff are lovely. I hope it improves as its a gorgeous little spot in the sun as they have a great beer garden.
Dirty room, stains on the bedding had to put towels over the pillows would not want to put my face on the pillow case. Room so small had to shuffle down the side to get in. Bathroom had rusting fittings & a tile missing. Avoid this place at all costs. If you are disabled there is no lift & you have to lug your cases up stairs. All in all a dreadful experience & couldn't wait to leave in the morning, lucky we only booked one night also there is no parking we had to park on the street and pay a parking meter
Went to a party there function room nice a few minor issues bar staff ran off there feet could do with more staff when busy.
Toilets no hand soap. Plus very cold other than that a enjoyable night
Absolutely loved our stay, huge bedroom very comfortable bed,Loved the shower.
Will be making a return.
Staff are lovely
Very clean, decent room, problems dealt with quickly. We were impressed that the music in the bar finished at 10pm. The breakfast was sparse but for the money it was good, self service. The staff are all lovely and professional and I will definitely stay here every time I visit Southport, love it.
Lovely spacious and comfortable room staff very friendly Great bar area and beer garden would highly recommend and will be going back for sure.
Have stayed here 2 times....second time not as good as the 1st....but was ok.
All the staff at hotel were friendly, we had two twin rooms great sized rooms, very clean with tea, coffee & biscuits.
Continental breakfast included with room rate & was very good lots to choose from. There was yogurts tea, coffee bread, crumpets pancakes croissants jam butter, ham cheese and a selection of fruit, cereal and fruit juices.
The hotel is in a great location only a 5 minute walk I to town & 10-15 minutes to the beach or £3 in a taxi
Will definitely be returning soon.

Quick Facts About The Metro Hotel

The Metro Hotel has received a mix of positive and negative comments from guests. In order to understand its strengths and weaknesses, it is important to analyze these comments in detail.
One major weakness highlighted by multiple guests is the cleanliness of the rooms. Comments such as "our room has not been cleaned upon check-in" and "dirty room, stains on the bedding" suggest that the housekeeping standards at the hotel are not up to par. These complaints are further reinforced by remarks about long hairs in the sink and shower, stained taps, and a filthy carpet. Such cleanliness issues can significantly impact a guest's experience and perception of the hotel.
Another weakness mentioned by a guest is the lack of parking facilities. Guests had to park on the street and pay for parking, which can be inconvenient and costly. Furthermore, the absence of a lift in the hotel can pose difficulties for disabled guests who have to lug their suitcases up the stairs. These factors can deter potential guests, especially those with mobility issues or a need for convenient parking.
On the positive side, the bar area of the Metro Hotel is consistently praised by guests. It is described as "lovely, inviting, and clean" with a great beer garden. This suggests that the hotel has succeeded in creating a pleasant and enjoyable environment for guests to relax and socialize. Positive comments about the staff also indicate that they are friendly and accommodating. This positive guest experience further enhances the overall impression of the hotel.
Some guests have mentioned specific strengths of the hotel, such as the size of the rooms and the comfort of the beds. The fact that the staff quickly address any problems that arise is also noted as a positive aspect. However, it is important to note that one guest mentioned their second stay at the hotel not being as good as the first, suggesting some inconsistency in service and quality.
The breakfast served at the hotel is generally considered good value for money, with comments such as "sparse but for the money, it was good" and "lots to choose from." However, it should be noted that the breakfast is self-service, which may not offer the same level of quality and variety as a cooked-to-order option.
In conclusion, the strengths of The Metro Hotel include a lovely bar area, friendly staff, spacious and comfortable rooms, and a good location. However, the hotel is let down by cleanliness issues, a lack of parking facilities, and the absence of a lift. These weaknesses can significantly impact a guest's experience and perception of the hotel. Addressing these issues would be crucial for the hotel to improve its overall reputation and attract more satisfied guests.
