Lecker Fisch and chips
Feels like more of a restuarant than a pub. Table service and bill at the end or you can just buy drinks at the bar as usual. Good views of the priory and the sea at the back of the pub to the right as you go in the door.
Food was lovely and didn't take long to arrive. Good service and friendly staff. There's a carvery at the weekend but we had the lunch menu with a select number of dishes at a range of prices.
Brilliant bar, serves great freshly cooked food (more resteraunt style food). Friendly staff, good veiws out over the sea and Tynemouth Priory.
We booked here for Sunday lunch while hosting family from down south, haven't been in many years, but it's always had a great reputation. The menu was varied, even on a Sunday, there was plenty choice with people from the party ordering things like sweet chilli chicken wraps, fish and chips, to pie and of course the well known carvery, I had the carvery myself and it was lovely, meat and veg all fresh and everyone else was more than happy with their food too, apparently the fish was one of the nicest they had ever had! Most people finished with a dessert, I had the chocolate brownie, which was probably up there with the nicest I have ate, drizzled in white chocolate, beautiful! The staff were also friendly and attentive, which means alot, really looking forward to paying a visit again, the views alone from the window are worth it.
Sunday carvery and fish and chips were both great. Food came out very quickly which was great. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Look forward to coming back.
The food was really great ???? Very fresh ingredients and once ordered, came out of the Kitchen quickly. The staff were lovely, but they seemed to have too much to do, Vs the busyness of the place. Pouring drinks, taking orders, serving food, etc. An extra pair of hands would have made all the difference. But having said that, it's a fine balance for pub profitability in this day and age, so I need to cut them some slack and remain patient. I would definitely go back.
Food was lovely and lady who served was so helpful and really went out of her way for us.
Popped in for some lunch. Although menu was limited what you got was very good and the portions were generous. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and fancy a bite to eat. Good views of the coast too in the bar side.

Quick Facts About The Gibraltar Rock

The Gibraltar Rock place has several strengths that make it a popular choice among customers. Firstly, the food at the pub is highly regarded, with many customers mentioning that the dishes were delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The menu offers a variety of options, ranging from traditional pub food like fish and chips to more restaurant-style dishes. The portions are also described as generous, ensuring that customers leave satisfied.
The service at The Gibraltar Rock is another strength, as the staff is friendly and attentive. Customers appreciate the helpfulness of the servers, with one guest mentioning that the lady who served them went out of her way to assist them. The staff is also mentioned to be quick in taking orders and delivering food, ensuring that customers do not have to wait long for their meals to arrive.
The pub also offers a pleasant dining experience, with good views of the coast and Tynemouth Priory. The location provides a scenic backdrop for customers, enhancing their overall dining experience. Additionally, the pub has a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, with one customer mentioning that it feels more like a restaurant than a traditional pub. The option to choose table service or buy drinks at the bar allows customers to customize their experience based on their preferences.
Despite these strengths, there are a few weaknesses that should be addressed. One customer noted that the staff seemed to have too much to do, which affected the speed of service. They suggested that an extra pair of hands would have made a significant difference in improving efficiency. This comment highlights a potential challenge that the pub may face in balancing profitability and providing excellent service.
Another weakness is the limited menu options, as one customer mentioned that the menu was not extensive. While this did not deter them from enjoying their meal, it indicates that there may be a lack of variety for some customers. Expanding the menu to cater to different preferences and dietary restrictions could help attract a wider customer base.
In conclusion, The Gibraltar Rock place has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. The delicious food, friendly staff, and scenic views make it an appealing choice for both locals and visitors. However, there are a few weaknesses that should be addressed, such as potentially understaffed servers and the limited menu options. Taking these suggestions into consideration can help further improve the overall dining experience at The Gibraltar Rock.
