Fantastic barbershop, Dave the owner gives a great cut, as well as Marco and Jarrod, who has great fade skills. Recommend making an appointment.
Barber Randy got me right in and made me look less homeless.
Hands down, Dave is the best barber in town! I’ve been going to him for 20 years now following him from shop to shop. He has given both of my boys the first haircuts who are now 18 and 13 years old and they will only go to Dave for haircuts as well. His attention to detail is impeccable and every cut is precise. Appointments only but if you ever have the chance get a haircut from him you’ll never want to go anywhere else!!
Dave is awesome. I’ve been going for about four years. His attention to detail is top notch. He’s very busy but efficient, lots of long time regular clients continue to go. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great barber. It’s one of the last old school barber shops around. Cash only
If you are a guy and still get your hair cut at a "salon," make the change already. I did about 5 years ago and couldn't be happier. The price is 1/2 what a salon charges and I'm always pleased with the results. All 4 barbers do a great job, but Megan is my go-to gal every 2-3 weeks. She really takes the time to be precise and make sure you are happy with the results.
The best day for walk-ins, in my experience, is Tuesday. They are pretty busy other days and it is best to set an appointment. I used to walk-in, but gave up on that a couple years ago. They do leave room in their schedules to do walk-ins, but I prefer to skip the wait. You can usually call between 9-10 and get an appointment that day, or at worst, call one day prior and you'll have plenty of times from which to choose.
Make the change...this is the place.
PS. They have great, sometimes abstract soundtracks playing in the background all the time.
I've been going to this barbershop for the past three years and as long as I live in St Louis I will come here. Dave is awesome and super nice. Marco cut my hair today and I'm a very happy customer.
I was a walk-in today and all three of the barbers tried their best to fit me in. Kudos.
Extremely happy with 3 haircuts so far, this is my new barbershop. Has a very classic barbershop feel with great prices as well as friendly and skilled barbers. With a hefty tip this place is still cheaper than utter crap like Sport Clips where I used to go.
Things get a little busy on Saturday morning, expect maybe a 20 minute wait if you get there when they open. They also have a giant bucket of toy cars for little boys to play with.
Tues-Thurs 9-6
Friday 9-5
Saturday 9-3
I’ve been getting my hair cut since these guys first opened, and I have watched as their business has grown over the years. The things that stick out to me are the consistency of haircuts (great), and the attitude in which customers are treated (top-notch). Yeah, they get busy, but it is always worth the wait. Best to make an appointment, but they do allow walk-ins, just be realistic, they are busy... Great guys, good vibe, highly recommend.

Quick Facts About Southtown Barbershop

Southtown Barbershop has received overwhelmingly positive comments from customers, highlighting their strengths and advantages. The following strengths can be identified:
1. Highly skilled barbers: Customers consistently praise the barbers at Southtown Barbershop, particularly Dave, Marco, and Jarrod. They are commended for their attention to detail, fade skills, and precision in every cut. This attests to the barbers' expertise and craftsmanship, making them stand out in the industry.
2. Long-standing reputation: Many customers have been loyal to Dave, the owner, for two decades, following him from shop to shop. This demonstrates the trust and loyalty fostered by the barbershop, building a strong customer base over time. Dave's reputation as the best barber in town contributes to the shop's credibility and gives customers a reason to return.
3. Classic barber shop experience: Southtown Barbershop is praised for its old-school atmosphere and traditional barber shop feel. Customers appreciate the nostalgic experience and value the authentic atmosphere that sets it apart from contemporary salons. This creates a unique selling point and caters to individuals seeking a genuine barber shop experience.
4. Efficient and busy operation: Despite being busy, the barbers at Southtown Barbershop are efficient and manage their appointments well. Longtime regular clients continue to return, indicating that the barbershop consistently provides satisfactory service even during peak times. This efficiency works in their favor, ensuring that customers are satisfied with their experience.
5. Value for money: Several comments mention the reasonable prices at Southtown Barbershop compared to salons. Customers appreciate the quality of service they receive for the price, making it an attractive option for those looking for a cost-effective haircut. This highlights the barbershop's ability to provide high-quality cuts without charging exorbitant prices.
6. Walk-ins and appointments: The barbershop accommodates both walk-ins and appointments, offering flexibility to customers. While appointments are recommended to avoid waiting times, customers can still try their luck as walk-ins during less busy periods. This allows for a balance between catering to regular clients and accommodating new customers.
7. Positive customer experience: The attitude and treatment of customers is consistently praised, with comments emphasizing the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The staff's approachability and professionalism contribute to a positive customer experience, fostering loyalty and satisfaction. The positive customer experience is reflected in the recurring patronage and recommendations from customers.
As with any business, Southtown Barbershop also has some weaknesses that should be addressed:
1. Limited availability: The barbershop operates for limited hours from Tuesday to Saturday, making it difficult for individuals with busy schedules to find suitable appointment times. Expanding their operating hours, particularly on weekends or offering evening slots, could attract more customers and better accommodate varying schedules.
2. Wait times on Saturdays: Some customers report experiencing wait times of up to 20 minutes on Saturday mornings, particularly when the shop opens. This could lead to customer dissatisfaction, as customers may prefer a shorter wait time for their appointments. Offering a more efficient scheduling system or hiring additional staff on busy days could help reduce wait times.
In conclusion, Southtown Barbershop has amassed a strong customer base due to its skilled barbers, loyal clientele, traditional atmosphere, and value for money. The barbershop's ability to manage its busy operations and provide a positive experience to customers is evident in the reviews. However, addressing limitations such as limited availability and wait times on busy days could further enhance the barbershop's reputation and attract new customers.
