Any time I'm in Clinton I always make an effort visit. I do recommend calling ahead and picking up your order especially during "peak" hours. They are known for having a long line which will take a while for them to work though. On-site parking is available, some behind the building. Also, a building beside the restaurant is available for customers to sit and eat.
I ordered:
- Small Fish Plate
- Cole Slaw
- Fries
- Banana pudding
- Drink (16 oz)
My total came to $13.63. I was able to split this into two meals.
The food ... no seasoning (not even salt) was on the fries. The fish by itself is bland as well - I usually hit it with some hot sauce/tarter sauce to spruce it up. The fish will have bones FYI. The coleslaw is finely chopped and juicy (which I like). But the banana pudding was a huge disappointment. It tasted like the store-bought banana jello mixture with cookies and bananas. I 100% expected this to be homemade.
I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl ALWAYS getting the small fish plate! I really wanted to give 4 starts - but the banana pudding took them down a notch! They definitely have stayed consistent with their food. Even though certain items needed some seasoning, I would still recommend this restaurant BUT NOT THE BANANA PUDDING.
Expect to know what you want. There is a warning ⚠️???? We ordered through drive thru and drive back around to the picnic area. Similar to Cook out experience with sophistication at certain levels
For a good old fashioned pork BBQ, this is your place. No fancy sauces, in fact, no sauce at all. None is needed. You can add hot sauce and vinegar provided if you need the extra kick. Sides are just as tasty, including the collards and slaw. Hush puppies that come with the plate are perfectly done, golden delicious. Green beans have just a hint of bacon but also a tad too much salt for my taste. However, not one was left when I finished. Our service was excellent, very nice staff and there was a steady flow of customers.
GREAT BBQ!!! I love the flavor! What ever they have in their recipe, it's perfect! ???????? The staff was friendly and they have a nice size dining area. I definitely recommend stopping by.
I tried Southern Style BBQ and Chicken tonight for the very first time. I was pleasantly surprised to see the drive thru option. I had seen the 4.5 star review on Google and realized why when I got there and the line was from the building to the highway. I ordered the 8 piece family special which is 8 pieces of chicken, a pint of bbq, 2 sides, and a dozen hush puppies. I tried mashed potatoes with gravy and slaw for the sides. I was pleasantly surprised to get home and find 10 pieces of chicken in the box (I’m not sure if this is typical or accidental). The food remained warm even with a 55 minute drive home the way it was packaged and yet the chicken was not soggy.
The chicken definitely stole the show as the best part of the meal. Well seasoned. Very crispy. Slightly greasy. The BBQ had a good taste. I believe it to be electric cooked. It’s ENC style BBQ. Chopped, but not too fine. The sauce was slightly sweet and got most of its heat from black pepper rather than pepper flakes. It was decent, but nothing to write home about. The slaw was good. Potatoes also were good. I’d order all of it again. The hush puppies were a bit greasy also, but I’d suspect they could be better.

This place is the bomb!! I’m a truck driver I got stuck at the Smithfield here in Clinton. I wanted some good food so I have this place a shot and I am blown away. It’s so freaking good! Best food I’ve had in months. It is a must have and I will be stopping here whenever I can when I come through!!!
Excellent food, and very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and welcoming. This is my favorite place to eat around Clinton!
Food is awesome and doesn’t take long but if there’s a good bit of people and you ask for a item customized then it’s a good chance you will have to go back but they will have no problem getting it right
