Gorgeous fish and chips, perfect portion size (this is the small cod) and cheerful staff!
My Sister bought cod and chips twice and paid over £19. They were shockingly bad. The cod was that over done that it stuck to the VERY dark brown exploding when cut into hard batter. Hence the fish was none existent and like dry, hard cardboard. The chips were also overcooked but greasy!
There was six of us who visited seamist fish shop for a bite to eat after walking from Redcar to Marske. The fish shop itself was clean and tidy. I myself got a small cod and chips. Even as a small, it was a reasonable size and it was very nice. The rest of our party either had chip buns or cod and chips are fish patty. All the cods were cooked fresh to order ensuring they weren't dry like in some other fish shops. The staff behind the counter were professional and friendly and even helped us with directions. The price was great. We didn't pay that much for what we got in a way. It was cheap but certainly didn't taste cheap. Thank you and we would really recommend giving this place a try if you are in the area.
Gone mega down hill with the new staff in, could write a whole list of issues but tonight was the final straw, most notable is don't ask for any sauce cause you won't get given it, my spam fritter had plastic in it, looked like cling film wrapped over half of it, the chips are pale and some undercooked, if you ask for scraps don't bother they won't give you any, the scampi is just frozen scampi, all of the batter has a bitter taste to it not sure if its old oil or something.
Been coming here for years and the past 5 months it's just got worse and worse and worse. Won't be bothering in future now.
Never put mushy peas in even though we ordered and paid for them. Couldn't be arsed to go back having been at work outside all day.
I have never been served such a miserable portion of chips as I was today. They were cold too due to inadequate wrapping.

You've obviously made a mistake, my husband was your customer (I was at home) He ordered 2 fishcakes and 1 portion of chips, which we've enjoyed before, hence a repeat order.
Always really liked this place but last few times it's not been that great
Tried again tonight which was the first time in about a year and it was awful. Chips well overcooked and fish so crispy that it shattered when put knife in. Sad as really used to like it there
Used this fish shop for the first time tonight and it won't be the last. Absolutely gorgeous had Cod n chips and Haggis n chips. Beautiful chips are perfect. Felt very safe too most people wore masks and keeping 2m distance. I will be back that's for certain.
