Has gone downhill to quite an extent. I used to come here once or twice a month for years and never had bad food, haven't been for a few months and decided to give it a try last week. Ordered two cooked breakfasts (there were two of us, I'm not that greedy!) and the sausages were undercooked, the mushrooms were completely raw and the plate was swimming with the cheapest watery baked beans known to man. The pots of tea were fine though and the toast was fresh and hot. The market was freezing and the heaters were switched off even though the cafe was busy so we had to sit and have breakfast wearing our coats and scarves. Olivers need to up their game as there are so many new and far superior places to eat in the Grainger Market these days.
Food is nice and reasonably priced. I had a cup of tea and the tea came in the pot with a pot of hot water. Staff are helpful and pleasant. They do come to serve you when they finish talking to each other.
Prima eten en drinken tegen een zeer redelijke prijs. De bediening is vriendelijk. Het was wel koud: De "heaters" stonden niet aan, waarschijnlijk om de kosten laag te houden.
I love this little cafe. We ate breakfast here everyday during our stay in newcastle. It was all very delicious. Even though I did not expect to like the black pudding. The staff was very friendly and the table clean.
Had ham broth today which was delicious, hottest soup I've ever had, ???? which is a great for me. Hubby had corned beef pie mash and peas which he said was delicious too.
Honestly without a Shadow of a doubt Oliver's bistro cafe is the most nicest friendliest cafe anywhere in Newcastle the service is brilliant food is outstanding and the price is fair love that cafe????
Visited today for breakfast with friends. I just basically googled it and on initial browsing, had a mix of different reviews. Decided to try it anyway - great experience!
The food was lovely, served in big portions, and the pricing was reasonable. Wanted to have a no frills english breakfast and they absolutely delivered!
I opted to not have the black pudding (because I've never been a fan). However, my husbanf and my friend said it tasted really good compared to the ones they've tried before.
The space was sufficient and homey. Staff were friendly and quite accommodating - we were a little bit noisy, but being that it's situated inside the market, there weren't any judgy eyes looking at us.
Great place for breakfast and coffee. Highly recommended!
Visited for an afternoon drink and a cake after a tour round Newcastle. Great hot chocolate and the scones and peach melba’s are glorious….
