Wir waren schon oft hier gewesen und haben immer gut gegessen . Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. Die Leute sind auch sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Eis draußen schmeckt auch sehr gut.
Such a lovely little cafe. Went with a disabled resident and was served by Joe. They were so lovely and aided us in getting in and out and sitting at the table too. Such a friendly and caring person who took the time to help us despite being busy. Will absolutely be going back and recommending to others. Thank you so much Joe
The tearoooms have been here since I was in school. The transient non-local visitors are why it's still open, always fresh tourists to replace them. The meals are very average indeed and just about edible. Even the cakes (which look nice) are unpleasant.
The only thing you can risk buying from here is New Forest ice cream - they don't make it.
Friendly place, quiet in the winter so good for holding a conversation. Specialty hot chocolate comes loaded with squirty cream and marshmallows & probably quite a few calories but lovely as a special treat.
Hemen su kenarında bulunan küçük bir cafe. Fish&chips, kahve veya dondurma menülerinde var. Hemen ardından su kenarında yürüyüş yapabileceğiniz güzel bir seçenek de var.

We ordered from the friendly service and were given a slip of paper with a number where we could pick up the food for "take away". We waited less than 10 minutes, even though there were people in front of us and we were right in the middle of lunch time. The portions were large, the fish hot and crispy. Unfortunately, the fries were a bit mushy. But anyway, the price-performance ratio is OK.
Only wanted a portion of takeaway chips. Given numbered ticket to collect order from around corner of shop. Few people ahead of me. Waiting quite a while but most people getting more complicated orders than me so kept waiting patiently. Then after people behind me in queue started getting their orders, asked when my chips would turn up. Staff member told me he didn't have my ticket number but he will do me some chips. Like he's doing me a favour, giving me the food I've paid for and waited 25 minutes for! No apology for the wait and frankly the chips weren't to my liking. Reminded me of oven chips, quite crispy. Not what I personally like but some will.
I understand mistakes happen but to not even offer an apology. This shop will not get my custom again and I cannot recommend.
Lovely location on the Quomps looking over the water; the tea room itself had a nice feel and presentation. We had brunch which was a nice combination of foods. Given the location, the prices were in our opinion, acceptable, although we thought the milkshakes in particular were ridiculously expensive for the size provided. We were also disappointed there were no baby change facilities, but accept they were not advertised and there are probably limitations with the building. The biggest disappointment for us was the front of house server who spent the whole time we were there berating his staff and disrespectfully ranting about his paying clients. We may go back but would likely look for other options in town first.

Quick Facts About Old Mill Tea Rooms

Old Mill Tea Rooms has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, many customers have mentioned that the food is good and the price-performance ratio is acceptable. This suggests that the cafe offers tasty and reasonably priced meals, which is likely to attract customers and lead to repeat visits. Additionally, the staff is often described as friendly and helpful, with one specific mention of a staff member named Joe who went out of his way to assist a disabled customer. This highlights the caring and accommodating nature of the staff, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere for customers.
The location of the tea rooms is also mentioned as a strength. Being situated by the water and offering a view of the Quomps creates a pleasant and picturesque ambiance. The cafe's proximity to scenic areas and the opportunity for a walk by the water make it an attractive spot for visitors. Furthermore, the cozy atmosphere of the tearoom is emphasized, with one customer commenting that it is quiet in winter, allowing for conversations to be held comfortably.
Another strength mentioned is the availability of New Forest ice cream. Although the cafe does not make the ice cream themselves, being able to offer a popular local treat can be a draw for customers and provide them with a delicious dessert option.
However, there are also some weaknesses identified in the comments. One customer mentions that the meals are average and just about edible. This suggests that the quality of the food may not be consistently outstanding, potentially leading to mixed experiences for customers. Similarly, another comment states that even though the cakes look nice, they are unpleasant. This could be an issue for customers seeking a tasty and enjoyable dessert option.
In terms of service, there is one negative experience mentioned where a customer had to wait a significant amount of time for their takeaway chips and did not receive an apology for the wait. This indicates a lapse in efficiency and customer service in this particular instance. The customer also expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the chips, which suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the food preparation and overall customer experience.
The lack of baby change facilities is mentioned as a disappointment for one customer. While they acknowledge the possible limitations of the building, the absence of this facility may be seen as a drawback for families with young children who require baby changing amenities.
Lastly, there is mention of a front-of-house server who displayed unprofessional behavior by berating staff members and disrespectfully ranting about paying clients. This negative interaction could create a negative perception of the tea rooms and deter potential customers from visiting or returning.
In conclusion, Old Mill Tea Rooms has several strengths, including good food, a friendly and helpful staff, a pleasant location, and the availability of New Forest ice cream. However, there are weaknesses identified in the average quality of meals, unpleasant cakes, delays and lack of apology for orders, absence of baby change facilities, and unprofessional behavior displayed by a staff member. These weaknesses may impact the overall customer experience and should be addressed in order to maintain and improve the reputation of the tea rooms.
