First time visit today. Older gentlemen named Mars owns the shop, a bit rough personality at first but very nice and knowledgeable of his cuts. He's been cutting hair for 60 years. Perfect cut!! Live 30 mins away, will be coming back.
I've been going here since the early 90s. They've always cut my hair perfectly, no complaints.
But today I went in for my monthly trim and I find out that Mars and his wife contracted Covid and is in ICU. Of all the viejitos in Riverside, I really hope Mars gets through this. He's been a great guy and the best damn barber I've ever had.
Edit: I just found out that Mars has passed away on Thanksgiving morning. RIP, man. At least they'll have good haircuts in heaven.
I'll be honest, the only reason I'm giving them 3 stars is for the shop itself, the atmosphere, a nice vintage vibe with a lot of cool pictures, antiques, and airplanes made of soda cans... All that's fine and dandy but the cuts themselves are mediocre. At least from the heavyset gentleman with the long black hair, his name escapes me at the moment, then again I don't think I ever even got his name as he doesn't speak. Not to me anyways.... He has messed my hair up more than once, facial hair as well.
Still, this is a go-to shop if your on a budget and need a quick cut. The wait is not long at all, in fact pretty fast service, and cheap. You get what you pay for.
I've been getting my haircut from Mars for almost 50 yrs now. My son has been getting his hair cut here for 15 . He won't go anywhere else. RIP MARS , WE LOVE YOU ! BURGIE, LISA & CHRISTOPHER REGALADO .
If u see some big dude around 36 years old glasses, on the fluffy side. DO NOT GO get a HAIR CUT BY HIM my husband got his hairline fked up! to top it off his fade looks like a bowl
I go on Sunday, when Joe is working. NEVER had a bad hair cut and he knows his craft. He's as good as a bartender with conversation.
Great place with a lot of history. A real old school kind of place.This is the kind of place all men should get their hair cut.
Skillfull and no BS. No pushing to buy anything and I can gaurantee this is the coolest place you've ever had a fade.
Cash Only but there is a store across the street with an ATM. This place has my business from now on.
Every time I go to Mars barber shop, I get great service, thanks to Mars,Mark and Joe, even though they miss their best friend toad.
