Lovely quiet place to go, lovely walk along the beach bit as well, everyone was so lovely, my daughter left thinking she had made 100 new friends. We should of taken a picnic, would definitely recommend If you planning on enjoying the views etc sadly was only passing by and my nosey self wanted to know what was down that road so didn't plan on staying.
Leasowe lighthouse is interesting for it's history, but if you want to climb up I side it, you'll need to visit on the right day on the month (don't ask me, I don't know the schedule of opening). As a location it's also worth visiting for the nature reserve and coastal walk, which is beautiful. I'm not sure there's much there by way of entertainment for young children, and in terms of retail facilities there's a very good coffee and snack place as you approach the lighthouse (The Green Shed) and Moreton is a mile of so away.
Visit on a sunny summer evening, take a walk and check out the sunset, perfect!
Went up the lighthouse today on a tour £3 for adults & £2 Children .. Had a lovely Tour guide called Will he was very knowledgable .. beautiful spiral staircase up to the top .. & fantastic views from the top .. highly recommend ????
Nice walk along the embankment by the lighthouse. Lots of dog walkers thou. Lighthouse is only open on certain days so need to check.
Did a charity abseil here. The volunteers were lovely people and the lighthouse is full of history. I will be going again to look at the rooms and stuff I missed
Great views but be aware the tour is ridiculously boring, went with 2 young children just for the view an have to do the whole tour which is about half an hour and they were bored really quickly but realise it's not targeted to very young children. Possible half hour to one hour wait if it's busy

Quick Facts About Leasowe Lighthouse

Leasowe Lighthouse has several strengths that make it an appealing place to visit. One of the main strengths is its beautiful and relaxing ambiance, as mentioned by multiple commenters. Visitors describe it as a lovely place to go to relax and unwind. The peacefulness and tranquility of the area create a favorable atmosphere for visitors seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Another strength of Leasowe Lighthouse is the scenic beach and coastal walk. The natural beauty of the area is highlighted by the stunning views along the coastline. Visitors praise the lovely walk along the beach and comment on the beauty of the nature reserve. This makes it an excellent location for nature enthusiasts and those who enjoy hiking and exploring.
Leasowe Lighthouse also holds historical significance, which is another strength. Commenters mention its interesting history and the opportunity to learn about it through guided tours. Visitors appreciate the knowledgeable tour guides who provide insights into the lighthouse's past. The historical aspect adds depth and context to the overall experience, making it more enriching for those interested in local history.
For those seeking refreshments, the presence of The Green Shed, a coffee and snack place near the lighthouse, is also mentioned as a strength. It provides a convenient option for visitors to grab a bite to eat or have a drink while enjoying their time at Leasowe Lighthouse. This facility adds to the overall convenience and enjoyment of the visit.
However, Leasowe Lighthouse does have some weaknesses that may impact the overall visitor experience. One weakness is the limited accessibility to certain areas of the lighthouse. Commenters mention that to climb up inside the lighthouse, visitors need to visit on specific days, but the schedule is not well-known. This lack of information may be frustrating for those who are specifically interested in exploring the interior of the lighthouse.
Another weakness is the lack of entertainment options for young children. While Leasowe Lighthouse offers beautiful views and historical significance, it may not be as engaging for young children. The guided tour is mentioned as being long and potentially boring for young children, which can make it less enjoyable for families with young kids.
Additionally, the limited retail facilities in the immediate vicinity may be a drawback for some visitors. Commenters mention that Moreton, a town around a mile away, is where one can find retail facilities. This lack of nearby amenities may inconvenience visitors who are looking for additional options beyond food and drink.
Lastly, overcrowding during busy times can result in long wait times, as mentioned by a commenter. This can reduce the overall enjoyment of the experience, especially for those who have limited time to spend at the lighthouse. Dealing with crowds and potential delays may be a downside for visitors seeking a more relaxed and uninterrupted visit.
In conclusion, Leasowe Lighthouse has several strengths that make it an attractive place to visit, such as its relaxing ambiance, scenic beach, historical significance, and the presence of a nearby snack place. However, some weaknesses, including limited accessibility to certain areas, lack of entertainment options for young children, limited retail facilities, and potential overcrowding issues, should be taken into consideration when planning a visit. Despite these weaknesses, Leasowe Lighthouse remains a beautiful and historically significant destination worth exploring.
