Quick Facts About Kemps Garden Centre

Kemps Garden Centre has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, it is praised for being well stocked with a wide range of plants, trees, garden furniture, shed tools, small water features, ornamental pots, and summer houses. This variety allows customers to find everything they need for their gardens, conservatories, and patios in one place. The stock is also described as being of good quality and reasonably priced, making it an attractive option for customers.
The presence of a small cafe on-site is another strength mentioned. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and the fact that the cafe is dog-friendly. Being able to get their dog photographed and added to the collection on the wall adds a unique touch and enhances the experience for dog owners. The food and coffee served in the cafe receive praise for their taste and variety. In addition, the cafe offers gluten-free options, catering to customers with dietary restrictions.
Parking availability is commended as well, with customers noting that there is plenty of parking space at the garden centre. This makes it convenient for visitors to access the store, especially considering that it is described as being larger in size compared to other local garden centers.
However, there are also a few weaknesses worth addressing. One customer mentions feeling uncomfortable seeing the checkout staff not wearing masks while customers are required to do so. This raises concerns about inconsistent adherence to safety measures, potentially putting customers at risk.
Another complaint raised is regarding the temperature in the cafe. A customer mentions that it was very cold, necessitating them to keep their coats on. This suggests that the heating system in the cafe is inadequate, affecting the comfort of customers during their visit.
A negative experience in the toilet facilities is also mentioned. A visitor describes the state of the toilets as "disgusting," mentioning poor cleaning standards and even a hanging toilet seat. The lack of hand drying facilities in the disabled toilet and the short operation duration of the dryer add to this negative impression. This highlights a significant area for improvement in terms of cleanliness and maintenance.
Furthermore, one comment suggests that the drinks in the cafe might not be of the best quality. The hot chocolate and coffee are described as not particularly good, and prices are considered relatively high, with drinks costing around £7. This raises concerns about customer satisfaction in terms of the beverage offerings and their value for money.
Lastly, one individual finds the garden centre to be expensive compared to other options in the area. Although this is attributed to the lack of competition and the convenience of its proximity, it may deter some customers who are more price-sensitive.
In conclusion, Kemps Garden Centre has a variety of strengths, including its extensive stock, friendly staff, dog-friendly cafe, and ample parking. However, there are weaknesses that need to be addressed, such as inconsistent adherence to safety measures, inadequate heating in the cafe, cleanliness issues in the toilet facilities, and concerns about the quality and pricing of beverages. These areas require attention in order to improve the overall customer experience at Kemps Garden Centre.

A well stocked garden centre with a wide range of plants and trees garden furniture and shed tools and small water features ornamental pots and summer houses well worth a visit a small cafe is on site as well and is run by a team of friendly staff the cafe is dog friendly and you can get your dog photographed to add to the collection already on the wall
Much larger with a great selection to pick from at good prices. One of the better local garden centers with plenty of parking. Feels a bit funny for us all to be in masks while the checkout staff don't but otherwise great.
Always have a great selection of plants on sale. Good prices. Nice friendly staff. Wonderful cafe attached. Amazing variety of food. Nice and welcoming. Dog friendly
Nice lunch in the cafe. Our dog was made very welcome. Food and coffee were very good. Our only criticism was it was very cold in the cafe so we had to keep our coats on!
Needed somewhere to stop for a drink.
Not particularly good hot chocolate and not particularly good coffee (environment wasn't very warm either but that's probably down to the cost of heating it). Staff were pleasant. Drinks cost around £7...
Everything you ever needed for your garden, conservatory, patio. Personally, I think it's very expensive but really doesn't have any comparison as only one is even close to where I live. But they do have a broad range of shrubs plants trees for sale. Good little cafe on the side and a cheeky parrot wolf whistling as you pass by.
Great garden centre with amazing stock. Also a terrific cafe with wonderful gluten free cakes. Thank you
Visited Kemps Garden Centre, Westerleigh Road, Coalpit Heath this morning. We were going to eat in the their cafe, but after visiting the toilets and seen the disgusting state of them, decided against going in the cafe. It was obvious that cleaning had been woofully poor for some considerable time and the toilet seat was hanging off. There was no method of drying hands in the disabled toilet and the dryer in the main area only remained on for five seconds before turning off.
The garden centre itself was fine, well stocked and a huge number of olive trees! A talking parrot made for added interest, but all spoilt by the toilet visit!
