Schwarzer Sand und traumhafte Wellen, was will man mehr
Special. Beautiful memorial and stunning lava formations along the water. Recommend
We loved this hidden gem because it was cool to learn that this beach was born around the time that we were, in the early 90s. We arrived around 9am and it was pretty empty here, we only ran into a couple of other people during our 2 hours exploring the area. There is a parking lot where you can leave your car and take the short walk to the ocean. It's not a spot where you can lay out and relax like you would at a typical beach. We really enjoyed walking around seeing the breathtaking views and taking photos. Definitely cool walking on the black used to be lava.
After we were done, we headed over to the little market that was right by the parking lot and got a smoothie (super refreshing and worth it!)
Check out my IG @linhtvo for the pictures we took in Hawaii!
This was an interesting place to stop and check out some of the unique coast. The ocean was rough when we visited so no swimming, but the short walk to the water and the fascinating landscape made it all worth while.
Good place for a quick stop if you are planning to do the "lava walk" later in the day.
Raw, rough, beautiful, a broad open expanded of shoreline lava. A fascinating stroll through all the wild forms of frozen lava flow and young noni trees
이곳은 추천한다는 말로도 아까운 곳입니다 마치 화성에 있는 거 같아요 우리가 갔을 땐 사람도 별로 없어서 표현하지 못할 경험을 하고 왔습니다 지금도 그때 생각이 나네요

Quick Facts About Kaimu Beach Park

Kaimu Beach Park, located in Pahoa, Hawaii, offers a unique beach experience that sets it apart from the beaches in Oahu. One of the strengths of this beach park is its distinctive black sand and stunning, picturesque lava formations along the water. Visitors are captivated by the memorial and the raw, rough beauty of the shoreline, often describing it as a fascinating stroll through frozen lava flows and young noni trees.
Another advantage of Kaimu Beach Park is its secluded and uncrowded nature. Many visitors appreciate the fact that it is not heavily populated, allowing them to enjoy the beach in a peaceful and tranquil setting. As mentioned in one of the comments, during their two-hour exploration, they encountered only a few other people. This solitude gives visitors a sense of privacy and a chance to connect with the natural surroundings.
Furthermore, Kaimu Beach Park provides opportunities for wildlife sightings. One lucky visitor mentioned spotting a whale during their visit, which added to the excitement and uniqueness of the experience. The park's location and relatively undisturbed environment make it an ideal spot for those who enjoy observing marine life and immersing themselves in nature.
In terms of weaknesses, Kaimu Beach Park may not be suitable for swimming due to the presence of strong, rough waves. As mentioned in one comment, the beach is not recommended for swimming because of the intense wave action. This can be a disappointment for those hoping to take a refreshing dip in the water or engage in water activities. The comments make it evident that Kaimu Beach Park is more of a place for exploration and scenic walks rather than a destination for swimming and relaxation.
Another potential weakness is the lack of amenities. While Kaimu Beach Park offers a parking lot for visitors, there are limited facilities available. It is not a beach where one can lay out and relax in the same way as a typical beach. Some visitors may find this lack of amenities and recreational facilities inconvenient, especially if they are looking for a beach experience that includes sunbathing and picnicking.
Despite these weaknesses, Kaimu Beach Park's strengths far outweigh its limitations. The unique landscape, with its black sand and lava formations, creates a visually stunning environment that appeals to many visitors. Its seclusion and uncrowded nature provide a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that allows for a personal connection with nature. Furthermore, the potential for wildlife sightings adds an element of excitement and unpredictability to the experience. As long as visitors are aware of the limitations regarding swimming and amenities, they can fully appreciate the beauty and distinctiveness of Kaimu Beach Park.
