I’ll be the first to admit I was not a fan. Moved out here in 2013 and didn’t have a good experience on my first visit. However, Richard the new owner has made a lot of positive changes. I’m happy to say that the place has changed for the better. I do not eat meat anymore so going into a diner that will accommodate and help me enjoy my dining experience without making me feel uncomfortable is pleasant. The hostess & waitresses are always attentive. I have had to go orders and dine in. Both are delicious. Food is fresh and doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting all day. Management team are not the type that sit in the office. They help the cooks, servers and walk the restaurant frequently to make sure guest are welcomed and pleased with their experience. Richie’s has something for everyone.
This a good diner, that is located in High Desert region! I have been here only once, in July of 2021. The meal, that I have ordered, was quite delicious. At the same time, it was not on the expensive side. It was fairly priced, I might add. In addition, I would recommend to try their banana split, as a dessert. It was well made, and delicious. The place, during my visit, looked quite clean. There was ample of space, to sit down, and enjoy a meal. The waitress, which attended my table, was friendly, helpful, and polite. So, overall, I had a good experience, and I will definitely, come back again!
Great food, great atmosphere and amazing staff. Everyone was courteous and we were served the best steak we've ever had. Definitely worth the price.
Family owned diner. Super friendly and kind staff. The food was made fresh and was a very yummy breakfast. I really liked the breakfast burrito. My wife liked the vegetable omelet.
The exemplary service might off-set the meal, just barely. Rebecca was wonderful and she took my criticism well. I ordered the T-bone special at $23 and Mrs. ordered the half-chicken dinner $15. My side was clam chowder and green beans, her's the mixed vegetables.
My chowder, the last bowl, came out cool. The server (not Rebecca) should have noticed right away. One slurp and I sent it back when Rebecca came to check on us. I heard her comment to the server the bowl wasn't even hot and she shouldn't have taken it out. It came back a couple minutes later (I over heard it was microwaved) and proved tasty. A little thicker than I like (imagine thick white gravy), but delicious. Both vegetable sides, great! Mushy green beans (yeah we like the can variety), the mixed vegetables were three color bell pepper, deliciously grilled, zucchini, onion, and tomatoes. The biscuit is also grilled.
Our entre, not so much. The chicken wasn't a half chicken but cut up. I'm sure there's a half chicken there, just not presented well. It was rubbery, a pale grey, not desirable. My T-bone, the grade wasn't what I expected. Maybe Select? Stringy, tough, and worst of all, it had that petroleum grill starter taste. I ate the filet side, which should have been way more tender than the strip side, but sadly no. I ended up leaving 3/4 uneaten and told Rebecca she shouldn't recommend it.
We finished with the deep dish apple pie and the chocolate cake, both well made and presented. Delicious!
The décor, 50's flavor, and aging. Really LOOKS like it was done in the 50's! Some chipping on the booths, butt dents in the cushion, some peeling paint. Clean, presentable, weathered. Big complaint, no paper towels in the men's bathroom. Empty. Nada. Makes me wonder about the how often they check the bathrooms.
Our bill was $65, left $15 tip. There are more well known brands up the road- Outback, Texas Roadhouse, that I know could offer better value. Wanted to give local a go, but found out Richie's may e a chain. So my intentions were for naught.
Go for the sides and dessert. Maybe stick to their burgers? Won't be coming back.
Friendly and attentive servers. The food was hot & the wait for my food didn't take long. The portions were filling. I dined alone and it was around 30 dollars 25 bucks for food & a 5$ tip. ????????♀️
The atmosphere was nostalgic. A 50s diner. The food was amazing, hot, fast and fresh. The staff were so friendly and made eye contact. Prices were affordable too. $$
This will certainly be a place my husband will sit and enjoy our morning coffee together.
Good place for a meal if you want the Route 66 Diner vibe. Solid menu, some surprises. The steaks are cooked on an outdoor wood grill. Great flavor. Had the T-Bone on special. Not a thick steak, but I was full. Better than some other diners in the area. Attentive service a plus.

The menu offers a variety of options, including breakfast items like breakfast burritos and vegetable omelets, as well as steaks and burgers. The diverse menu makes it suitable for different preferences and dietary restrictions, such as the commenter who mentioned being a vegetarian.
The prices at Richie's Real American Diner are also seen as a strength. Several customers mention that the meals are fairly priced and offer good value for the quality of food and service received. This affordability makes it an attractive option for locals and visitors alike.
The atmosphere of the diner is another aspect that receives positive feedback. The commenters mention a nostalgic 50s diner vibe, which adds to the overall experience. The décor, although aging, gives the place a unique charm and sets it apart from other establishments in the area.
On the other hand, there are some weaknesses that come up in the comments. One customer mentions that their chowder came out cool, indicating a potential issue with quality control in the kitchen. However, the issue was promptly addressed by the attentive waitress, who ensured that the customer received a hot and tasty replacement. This demonstrates that while there may be occasional issues, the staff is quick to rectify them.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer is the presentation and quality of the half-chicken dinner and T-bone steak. The chicken was described as rubbery and the steak as stringy, tough, and not meeting the expected grade. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the preparation and quality of certain dishes. However, it should be noted that the sides and desserts received positive reviews, indicating that certain items on the menu may be more reliable than others.
The aging décor and potential lack of bathroom maintenance are also weaknesses mentioned in the comments. Chipping booths, peeling paint, and an empty men's bathroom dispenser raise concerns about the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the establishment. This may leave some customers questioning the attention to detail and overall cleanliness standards.
In conclusion, Richie's Real American Diner has several strengths, including accommodating and attentive staff, delicious and fresh food, affordable prices, and a nostalgic atmosphere. However, there are some weaknesses that emerge, such as potential inconsistencies in food quality, aging décor, and possible issues with cleanliness.
