Great service and everyone there is extremely pleasant. My favorite part is you never have to wait...you can make a quick appointment and you're attended to on arrival!
Run away. I had sent a picture of what I wanted and she texted me the price of that style. Price was steep of $240 but I needed my hair done and hair was included.
I go to the salon and pick my colors and I asked how much hair to get off the shelf and they did not really respond (red flag #1). So I grab the 2 colors I wanted mixed together.
I believe they only used those 2 packets... The braider did not show me the first piece to show me if it was okay. My braids came out super super thin and had no remorse when I was noticeably upset with the turnout. Fanta did not care and just wanted her money. She had no suggestion to improve the issue, as the hair was already braided and done.
My hair looks terrible and I plan to take it out within the week. I am upset with their poor communication, lack of remorse, and money hungriness of the owner, Fanta.
Great experience overall! I love my hair.
Fanta and her girls are super nice and very good at hair braiding. Found this salon randomly and come to find out she is from Senegal which is where I am originally from. We share a lot of the same values. They are like family. I’ve been there twice so far and made them my new hair salon. Although they are located an hour from my house, it is worth the drive. If you want beautiful braids while dealing with kind people, this is your to go place. Check them out.
I called early in the week to schedule a retwist for my locs as a new client. Fanta set up an appointment with me and we both agreed to a date and time. As the day approach I message her half hour before my appointment to let her know that I’m on my way. She then messages me back saying to wait because she had order products that hasn’t arrive yet. Which is understandable but my only issue is why wait until I reach out to you?.. To then let me know last minute of this inconvenience that you knew of. Very apathetic ..
And so I arrive in the salon and greet her and she replies saying “yes, I texted you to wait and that I will call you when to come” as if I didn’t make an appointment and as if I have all day to wait. Meanwhile she’s telling me that she doesn’t have any products that she uses. All while there’s a gentleman sitting there under a dryer who just got finished with the same service and style that I was there to receive. So I mention how is that you don’t have any product and you just finished someone’s hair?!
The only reasonable thing I can think of is that her business is unorganized and for whatever reason in this situation was irresponsible with her service. If you know you have clients scheduled to meet with you, it’s your duty and responsibility to have your things in order and not at the last minute or at all.
If you value your time, and hope that your future hair stylist will respect themselves and you too, I’ll be honest and say do not trust her services. All facts here. God forbid you put all your trust in this person to fulfill a service because you need your hair done for a special event. Her acts were very apathetic and inconsiderate. I’ll continue to pray for her with hopes you all do too and hope that The Most High gives her peace, love, strength and guidance to do the right thing and serve her people according to the Most Highs will. God bless you Fanta and I wish you nothing but the best and pray that you find courage to see where you went wrong and how you can correct that for your present and future clients you have to serve especially if you wish for you business to be fruitful.. May the spirit of God be with you at all times and lead you to serve and be served. Bless you ????????
I love Fanta's! She and her staff are always so friendly and work so quickly. Gone are the days when I had to sit getting my hair done all day. At Fanta's, I can be in and out in 3-4 hours. She always does exactly what I ask for, and her pricing is incredibly reasonable for what she does- I'm talking $180 for medium sized box braids that go to my waist. AND she provides that hair, which I love because I don't have to make any extra stops at a hair store! Go see her. You won't regret it!
Great place to get your hair done fast and painless. Fanta has become my favorite and friend over the years, she’s literally the best very welcoming, very strong and hard working woman she will make you feel at home and her staff is very professional and friendly as well.. Book her you won’t regret it.. for Any hair style you want...
They all work as a team and always make me feel very comfortable and welcome. Seats are always all filled And they have the best music videos to enjoy your time there..
I used Fanta's services for the first time a few days ago. I am not familiar with the "braiding" community here in Rhode Island so I went to Fanta based on a recommendation from a good friend. I have also seen my friend's braids after they have been done and I was very impressed. However, I was requesting the installation of crochet braids rather than the "traditional" braiding hat I had seen done well.
Fanta assured my friend that she could do the crochet style I was requesting. She was told up front that my hair was vey thin, fine, and fragile. Fanta never asked to see my hair before agreeing to the service. When I questioned the number of bags of hair she asked me to buy, she was adamant that I needed 8, even though most style recommendations called for less hair. It did not take me long after she finished for me to declare that she had definitely installed too much hair. And I made an appointment to go back and have some of it removed. However, before that could happen my entire scalp began to itch non-stop. While having a friend and my daughter remove the hair, we discovered that the installation of the hair was done by using 8 packs on 1/2 of my head and making huge clusters of knots that were definitely not professionally done, took extreme amounts of time to get out, and caused several sore spots in my head. When we called and spoke with Fanta, her position was that the problems were all my fault because I purchased the hair instead of getting it from her. She never suggested that the hair be washed before using to prevent the severe itching. She never once looked at my hair to determine the best approach to completing the style in my hair. And, ultimately, she was much more interested in taking no responsibility for her poor work than she was in securing a long-term customer. Traditional braids, thumbs up. Crochet braids, run elsewhere!!!

Quick Facts About Fanta African Hair

Fanta African Hair place has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. It is important to assess these strengths and weaknesses in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of the salon and its services.
One of the strengths mentioned in the comments is the great service provided by the staff. Customers appreciate the pleasant and friendly atmosphere at the salon. This positive customer service experience is valued by many and can be a key strength for the business. Additionally, the salon is commended for its efficiency and lack of wait times. Customers are able to make quick appointments and be attended to promptly upon arrival, which is a convenience that is appreciated.
Another strength of Fanta African Hair place is the skill and expertise of the braiders. Customers compliment the quality of the braids and express satisfaction with their overall hair styling experience. The salon is described as being good at hair braiding and praised for producing beautiful braids. This skill and proficiency contributes positively to the salon's reputation and attracts customers.
The salon's connection to the African culture and values is also seen as a strength. Customers appreciate the fact that the owner, Fanta, is from Senegal, which creates a sense of familiarity and shared experiences. This cultural connection adds a unique touch to the salon and creates a sense of community among customers. For those who value a salon experience that reflects their cultural background, this can be a significant strength.
However, there are also several weaknesses that have been mentioned in the comments. One major weakness is the poor communication and lack of professionalism displayed by Fanta and her staff. Customers express frustration and disappointment with the lack of response to their inquiries, as well as a lack of transparency regarding the hair products used and the hair quantity needed for the desired style. This poor communication can lead to misunderstandings, as seen in the case where a customer received braids that were thinner than expected.
Another weakness highlighted by customers is the owner, Fanta's, focus on money rather than customer satisfaction. Customers are dissatisfied with the lack of remorse and suggestions for improvement offered by Fanta when confronted with subpar results. This money-focused approach can give the impression that customer satisfaction is not a priority for the salon. Additionally, there are complaints about the owner's disorganization and irresponsibility, such as failing to have necessary products available for scheduled appointments.
Another weakness mentioned is the poor quality of work for crochet braids specifically. Customers describe instances of excessive hair installation, resulting in discomfort and sore spots on the scalp. This suggests a lack of expertise and attention to detail when it comes to certain hair styling techniques.
In conclusion, while Fanta African Hair place has strengths such as great customer service, skillful braiders, and a cultural connection, it also exhibits weaknesses in communication, professionalism, and expertise in certain hair styling techniques. These strengths and weaknesses should be carefully considered by potential customers when deciding whether to visit the salon.
