Zero stars - All I am trying to find out is how to update my license info to reflect my LLC. No help on the website,
- Sent an email over a week ago through the website with this question, haven't received a response yet.
- been calling for the past 10 days on a regular basis.
- it take 7-8 minutes to get past the automated options to finally select the option to speak with someone.
- each time, been on hold for hours and then the call drops off.
- there is no option to select call back
- no option for a live chat.
With all our tax payers money, the fees that we licensees pay regularly and technology easily available, I'd hope this agency would update their systems.
Super kind person I spoke to over the phone! Very sweet! Usually if you file anything it can take up to a month to hear back just FYI! That includes emails…. As for my situation I filed a complaint and they helped me further investigate information as I wait for my file to be reviewed. I felt more relieved after speaking with her.
I submitted a written report with tracking of unlicensed activity and this agency has not taken any action on the salon or individual. Neither the person or salon is licensed or insured putting the public at risk with no legal recourse for consumers should something bad occur. These government employees are really just getting paid to do absolutely nothing. I will be reporting this agency to the Office of Inspector General, the governors' office and then Senator Rubio’s office. Stop wasting taxpayers monies and do the job you are being paid to do.
Even if you get to the live person - there is no help available.. They are trained to say: "we are processing your application in the order it was received".. But that is meaningless information.. Are you processing the applications from a week, a month, a year ago? Is it tens, hundreds, or thousands of applications ahead of mine?
They have no timeline specifications. They can not answer, if it takes 30 or 60 or 90 days to get any basic thing done...
Gov. DeSantis needs to clean up DBPR, fire all those people, build a new system.. and start over with more competence and efficiency in place..
I agree that the website is not helpful at all. I am trying to a certified roofing license and located in CT. Their website says that if you have 10 years experience in the field you are applying for that you do not need to take testing. After calling, the person that I spoke to flat out told me to take the test. She said that FL will deny me even if I have the experience. Just starting our 16th year. Tool the tests, passed. Paperwork has been denied twice so far. Basically for not crossing a T and dotting an I, I'll take the blame. It seems they don't want to give out any licenses in construction.
I’ve been waiting since 1/3/23 to get my certificate of licensure for real estate, paid the fee TWICE, and got hung up on right at 5pm when checking the status today. I still haven’t received a thing. Terrible!
Zero stars!!! Shame on you “Department of Business and Professional Regulation”!! Kissing government a$$ and bullying The Plaza Live establishment. Where were you when Christina Grimmie was shot and killed at the same location??? Because I don’t remember headlines about an effort for gun control. No one died from a drag queen performance at the Plaza, but someone actually did die because a mentally unstable person was allowed to carry a gun. You’re a disgrace.
Getting a professional license in the state of Florida is a nightmare because of this disorganized and poorly run organization. And as for customer service, do not expect much. How these people are allowed to talk to people the way they do is beyond me. There is incredibly poor communication, an outdated system, and mismanagement. They took my sisters post licensing payment and still voided her license. They nulled my license eventhough I completed my courses in time and made my payment because according to their system they never received them. A system that is obviously flawed. I'm not sure how any of this is legal.

Quick Facts About Department of Business and Professional Regulation

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the strengths mentioned in the comments is that there are some helpful and kind individuals working at DBPR. This is important as it shows that there are employees who care and try to assist customers to the best of their abilities. It is positive to have friendly and empathetic staff to provide support and guidance to individuals navigating the licensing process.
Another strength mentioned is that the agency does provide assistance and help in certain situations. For example, one commenter mentioned that they filed a complaint and were provided with help in further investigating the issue. This indicates that DBPR may be effective in addressing specific concerns and providing guidance to individuals who have filed complaints or reports.
However, there are also several weaknesses of DBPR highlighted in the comments. One significant weakness is the lack of communication and responsiveness. Multiple commenters mentioned that they had reached out to DBPR via email or phone but did not receive a response or experienced extensive delays. This lack of timely communication can create frustrations and hinder individuals from receiving the assistance they need.
Another weakness is the inefficient and outdated systems at DBPR. This can be seen in the difficulties individuals face when trying to update their license information or receive updates on their application status. Commenters mentioned long hold times, dropped calls, and a lack of options, such as call backs or live chats. These issues indicate a need for improved technology and streamlined processes within the agency.
Additionally, there is criticism regarding the lack of transparency and clarity in the licensing process. Commenters expressed frustration over not knowing how long it takes to have applications processed or the status of their requests. This lack of information can be frustrating and cause uncertainty for individuals who are trying to obtain or update their licenses.
There are also accusations of DBPR not taking appropriate action in specific cases, such as unlicensed activities or complaints. Some commenters feel that the agency is not effectively carrying out its responsibilities to protect the public and hold individuals or businesses accountable for violations.
Overall, the DBPR has both strengths and weaknesses. While there are helpful individuals within the agency and instances where assistance is provided, there are significant issues with communication, responsiveness, outdated systems, lack of transparency, and perceived inefficiency. These weaknesses hinder individuals from easily accessing the services and information they need, causing frustration and dissatisfaction. Improvement in these areas would be beneficial for both licensees and the general public relying on the agency's oversight and regulatory functions.
