This place was great and definitely worth the drive from Southern NH. The staff is great, the food is great and the drinks are top notch. Couple that with the fun of getting in, to watching people who don't know exactly how to get in (hint...look at their fb page for the riddle first) through the one way mirror and it's a blast. "Clint" our bartender was a really cool dude. Cheers guys and look forward to the next visit!

Loved this place! Great atmosphere, so unique! The food and drinks are fabulous, they have a selection of mocktails too which is hard to find. Can't wait to go back!
I took my date here and it was kindof embarrassing. The first thing I noticed was that my menu wasn’t clean; there was a big glob of what looked like butter on the cover, which grossed me out pretty bad. They had stopped serving meals and were only serving appetizers and desert, so me and my date ordered meatballs and cheese cake. After several minutes the server came back and told us they were out of both. I was pretty bummed bc I was super hungry, but oh well. So I ordered the espresso martini, hoping it would be my saving grace, and it literally tasted like cough syrup. The place has cool atmosphere, but I had a pretty poor experience. I wouldn’t recommend it.
A fun "speakeasy" experience directly across from the state capitol, with plenty of places to shop during the daytime, plus theatres for live music and comedy. Parking is easy if you use the local garages that are much-improved in recent years.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, the food was prepared very well, drinks were delicious, and service exceptional. The food menu is very limited and I was extremely disappointed there was no live jazz music on Friday night. We planned our visit for the atmosphere and music. The prices you pay is for their unique theme, including music.
What happened to this place? I've been going to this speakeasy for years and it was always a hidden gem of Concord. The vibe was so unique and fun. It had inventive, creative, interesting drinks and the bartenders were always super excited to share their craft. They had some staple drinks, but also an array of specialty cocktails which were truly amazing. Actually inspired me to get into home bartending.
My last visit though...not sure what's going on, the menu has been neutered and the drinks are completely uninspired. Bartenders don't seem to have a passion for the craft and going off menu is risky. The atmosphere is way off.
So here's my rant. It's a speakeasy, drinks are the focus - it's why people are there. Mixology is an art and requires a passion and dedication to the craft. If ten really basic drinks you could order anywhere is all they can muster, then we've lost what was once a really special place. I know there's a connection between CodeX in Nashua and Chuck's, I went to CodeX not long ago and was super disappointed by the small menu and lackluster drinks. I bragged to my friends about how much better Chuck's was. Now I see Chuck's has a carbon copy menu to them. Instead of making CodeX better, they've made Chuck's worse and it's hugely disappointing. I used to recommend this place to everyone. Now I'm not so sure I'll even be returning myself.
Is there a 10 star available? Literally the BEST dining experience ever. Our server happened to be the GM. Enthusiastic, enlightening, and engaging. Not a place for little kids but okay for teenagers. Upon entering the BARbershop, I picked up the phone, had to answer a question just to gain access to the restaurant. Kind of fun!! This restaurant is set-up like a 1920's speakeasy. Tastefully decorated, soft music, and dimmed lighting. Everything is made in house from the ketchup, to the bread. Got the philly cheesesteak by recommendation and I was not disappointed. Drinks did not disappoint, and even the kids loved their mocktails. They use Luxardo cherries so quality is not to be questioned here. The kids got the veggie flatbread, meatloaf sandwich and the hubs got a burger. Fries were freshly cut and seasoned to perfection. As full as we were, we couldn't stop here, we had to make room for desert. The visit consisted of me telling the server to "surprise us" and he did. He brought us housemade donuts. Yummo. Overall, clean, excellent service, fun and entertaining environment, and superb drinks and food. Definitely a must. Even locals didn't know about this hidden gem. Coming soon...piano playing.
Went for the first time last night. Didnt order one drink the whole night because the blonde old lady bartender refused to serve anyone she didn’t know. I know this cause friends of ours had to order us our drinks. She was very rude and obnoxious. Needless to say we are very well known and respected through concord. We’ll be making sure your business is impacted by this. Hopefully u get rid of her and learn from this.
