We had a lovely evening here. Great selection of beers. Beautiful food. Can highly recommend the spinach and feta filo parcels and the honeyed goats cheese.
We stumbled across this by chance and couldn't resist popping in for a few drinks. A good selection of Belgian beers and a nice warm fire provided a welcome break.
Very welcoming and chatty owner who was able to recommend a few other places to check out.
Table service for drinks. They also serve food.
Excelentes tapas , los calamares a la romana y las gambas al ajillo las mejores de Manchester, buena selección de cervezas y una atención excelente..
Great selection of beers and food reasonably priced and delicious sunday lunch is great during christmas went as a party of 16 and they catered for us brilliantly.
A nice bar worth a good selection of beers that are a break from the hoppy craft beer norm. Has a few draft and a fairly large menu of bottled beers. It is pretty small and service can be variable, particularly if you time it wrong. But a nice relaxed venue of you get it right.
05/08/22: I've been coming to the Belgian Bar, formerly La Trappiste on Greenwood Street, since I moved to Altrincham in 1995. It closed as La Trappiste on 29th October 2011 and rebranded with a facelift as The Belgian Bar. It's still the same quirky curio of a place as it always was, with it's wood interior, traditional Belgian decor and little nooks & crannys on the upper floor. An extensive Belgian Beer menu, something for everyone. Over 10 taps to choose from and a stock of over 300 bottles from Belgium, Europe, UK & Europe. Dog friendly. Welcoming and accommodating staff. Plenty of room outside to sit and relax, plus the warmth of a real fire on Winter days. A nice selection of sandwiches, hot dogs, steak frites, meze and tapas.
Visited Belgian Bar yesterday for the first time and I was astonished about the level of customer service received. Nothing was too much trouble, staff was super friendly (they found a perfect balance of being friendly and not overload the customer with kindness).
Although someone went beyond and above to make our table happy and that was David. I have asked for mocktail (not on the menu) thinking I might be faced with 'no' as it happened in few places already, but for David that was not a problem. All evening he was making me the most amazing drinks I could possibly imagine. Blends, taste and attention to details... just wow!!! Thank you so much for accommodating my needs. Left the bar super happy
You guys should put those on the menu. Let other people taste what I did!
Amazing bar with a super collection of Belgian beers and other drinks. Staff very nice and knowledge, great little drinking venue!

Quick Facts About Belgian Bar

The Belgian Bar has several strengths that contribute to its overall positive reputation. One of the main strengths is its great selection of beers. Many customers have commented on the extensive Belgian beer menu, with over 10 taps and a stock of over 300 bottles from Belgium, Europe, UK, and beyond. This wide variety appeals to beer enthusiasts who are looking for something different from the typical craft beer offerings. The bar also offers table service for drinks, which adds to the convenience and enjoyment of the experience.
Another strength of the Belgian Bar is the quality of its food. Customers have praised the delicious and reasonably priced meals, with specific recommendations for the spinach and feta filo parcels and the honeyed goats cheese. The bar also offers a nice selection of tapas and sandwiches, providing options for those looking for a light bite to eat while enjoying their drinks. The Sunday lunch, in particular, has been highlighted as a great option, with one customer mentioning that the bar was able to cater for a party of 16 brilliantly.
The customer service at the Belgian Bar is also highly regarded. Many customers have commented on the welcoming and friendly staff, with one individual named David receiving special praise for going above and beyond to accommodate a customer's needs. This level of customer service creates a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for patrons, making them feel valued and appreciated. Additionally, the bar's owner has been noted for being chatty and helpful, offering recommendations for other places to check out in the area.
The atmosphere of the Belgian Bar is also mentioned as a strength by customers. The wood interior, traditional Belgian decor, and little nooks and crannies on the upper floor contribute to its quirky and cozy ambiance. There is also plenty of seating outside, allowing patrons to sit and relax in the open air. The bar is known for having a warm fire on winter days, adding to the comfort and inviting feel of the place.
However, the Belgian Bar does have some weaknesses that should be considered. One weakness is its size. Several customers have mentioned that it is pretty small, which can result in limited seating and a potential lack of space during peak times. This can lead to variable service, particularly if the timing is not right. It is important for the management of the bar to address these issues and find ways to accommodate a larger number of customers without compromising on the quality of service.
Another weakness that has been pointed out is the variability in service. While many customers have praised the friendly staff, there have been a few comments about inconsistent service. This could be due to a lack of staff during busy periods or a need for better training to ensure consistent service quality. Addressing this weakness could help improve the overall customer experience and ensure that every guest feels well taken care of.
In conclusion, the Belgian Bar has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. These include its great selection of beers, delicious and reasonably priced food, welcoming and friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and accommodating customer service. However, there are also a couple of weaknesses that should be addressed to enhance the overall experience. These include the size of the bar and the potential for limited seating, as well as the variability in service quality. By addressing these weaknesses, the Belgian Bar can continue to provide a top-notch experience for its patrons and maintain its positive reputation in the community.
