Best PlaceJuice Reviews

Staff lovely, we are walking group, and managed very well, with us all,dog friendly too.
Lawrence is the best Landlord this pub has seen in many years, He has brought life back in to the place, so welcoming, taken the time to learn everybody's name and always has time for a chat and a laugh, it's like popping to see an old friend. What a shame we're losing him and Declan, all because the owner's are greedy and make it utterly impossible for anyone to make a real go of the place. The 5 stars are for the current staff you will be sorely missed xx
Appalling, that is all I can say. Clearly there is a serious issue ongoing here. This could be and probably was a lovely village pub. Now it feels like the owners/tenants are simply using up the dregs of Alcohol they have left before shutting for good.
There is very little choice left behind the bar and no sign that it is going to be restocked in the future.
I feel very sorry for the staff behind the bar as it an embarrassment for them having to serve customers and they are the ones getting all the stick from customers.
My advice would be don't bother at present and hopefully decisions will be made regarding the future of what should be a lovely village.
Beautiful place, amazing staff. Will be coming back.
Nice place shame it's got no heating, won't be going again this winter
Sorry to say our experience was less than good, and I really wanted to be positive. We ordered two pints of carling, 1 with black current. There sadly was no pink gin available. As my hubby and I got to the last third of our drink we both noticed something clinging to the inside of our glasses. Either they had not been cleaned, or the pumps were not clean. Either way it left us with a worrying taste in our mouths. We left our drinks, and left the beer garden. Quick learning curve needed for this young couple.
Used to meet-up here regularly on a fri lunch time...
We fancied a "cuppa n a catch-up" after a few years, gutted to find the pub still closed at 1300hrs when the website says you're open at 1200hrs....update ????????
Such a shame as this pub is local, I wanted it to be nice, but alas it wasn't. We stood at the bar for 5-6 minutes before we were acknowledged. Was then taken to the eating area which was nice and airy, waitress was pleasant. The menu is average, nothing I couldn't cook at home. The quality of the meal was poor and lacked imagination. We spent most of the time listening to the rather loud kitchen staff talking to one another. We won't be going back, certainly not till the menu and presentation improves dramatically. This is 'the new menu', ooops I would try again.

Quick Facts About The Sheffield Arms

The Sheffield Arms pub has received a mix of positive and negative feedback from customers. In order to fully evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment, it is important to consider each comment in detail.
Starting with the positive comments, it is clear that the staff at The Sheffield Arms are highly regarded. One customer describes them as "lovely" and notes that they are especially accommodating to their walking group. This indicates that the staff are capable of managing large groups and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the comment praises the landlord Lawrence for his friendly demeanor and ability to make customers feel like old friends. This personal touch is a strength of the pub and likely contributes to its positive reputation.
Another comment reflects on the overall positive experience at the pub, calling it a "beautiful place" with amazing staff. This suggests that the atmosphere and ambiance of The Sheffield Arms are commendable and enjoyable for customers.
Now turning to the negative comments, several weaknesses are apparent. One customer criticizes the lack of variety behind the bar and the perceived lack of restocking. This indicates a possible issue with inventory management at the pub. A limited selection of drinks may be off-putting for customers seeking variety and could lead to them seeking alternative venues with more options.
Another customer mentions the absence of heating, which they identify as a reason for not returning in the winter. This highlights a potential flaw in the pub's infrastructure or maintenance, as heating is a basic necessity for customer comfort. Failure to address this issue could result in a loss of business during colder months.
In terms of customer service, there are some negative comments related to wait times and lack of acknowledgement. One customer mentions having to wait at the bar for several minutes before being served, which reflects poor customer service and could result in frustration or dissatisfaction. Additionally, another customer notes that the pub was closed during the advertised opening hours, indicating a lack of consistency and reliability.
Furthermore, there are criticisms of the food and menu offerings at The Sheffield Arms. One customer describes the menu as average and lacking imagination, while the quality of the meal is deemed poor. The loud kitchen staff mentioned by another customer detracts from the overall dining experience and suggests a lack of professionalism in the kitchen area. These comments indicate a need for improvement in the pub's culinary offerings and foodservice operations.
Overall, The Sheffield Arms has several strengths, including a friendly and welcoming staff and a positive ambiance. However, there are notable weaknesses in terms of inventory management, infrastructure maintenance, customer service, and the quality of the food and menu. Addressing these areas of concern could greatly improve the overall reputation and success of the pub.
