Had a Sunday lunch with my family while we were visiting my Sister and her partner. Great home cooking how pubs should be. Friendly and great value. Loved it
Very good, typical pub food. Not amazing, but worth the money. Service is pub friendly and efficient. It's a very nice, spacious pub. Beef burger was good, as was the chicken pie.
Dog friendly nice Sunday Roast own parking remember to put your number plate in at the bar
Lovely homemade food. Was quiet when we went in. The staff are lovely. Friendly atmosphere. Bar is separate from where you eat so it's more quiet. Good value for money compared to some places.
AVOID, worst pub in witham Had a few games of pool a month ago and just recieved hundreds in parking fines for a pub I was in purchasing drinks, when asking the manager for help she was so rude raising her voice and shouting and reckons not her problem, I see why the pub is always dead
I'm going to give an average for this.
Sunday roast, but that's all they serve on Sunday.
Food is OK, but we waited quite a while before the meal came. This is not the first time that has happened either.
Dee and her team are lovely. Great home cooked food at a good price
I've had my wedding there and two wakes, nothing is ever too much trouble
Great place good food and dogs welcome

Quick Facts About The Red Lion
The Red Lion pub has received mostly positive comments from customers. One recurring theme is the quality of the food, which is described as "great," "homemade," and "home cooking." Customers appreciate that the pub serves traditional pub food, which is what they expect from a place like this. However, there are also a few comments stating that the food is not amazing, but still worth the money. This suggests that while the food is good, it may not be exceptional or stand out in any way.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the friendly and efficient service. The staff is described as lovely and the atmosphere as friendly. These comments indicate that the pub provides a welcoming environment for customers, which adds to their overall enjoyment of the experience. The fact that the bar area is separate from the dining area is seen as a positive, as it creates a quieter dining atmosphere.
Several customers also praise the pub for being dog-friendly and for offering a nice Sunday roast. These comments cater to specific customer preferences, as some people enjoy taking their dogs with them to pubs, while others appreciate a classic British Sunday roast. It is mentioned that the pub has its own parking, but a specific comment reminds customers to put their number plate in at the bar to avoid fines. This can be seen as a minor inconvenience, as customers have to remember to do this extra step.
Despite the overall positive feedback, there is one strongly negative comment from a customer who claims to have received parking fines after visiting the pub. They complain about the manager's rude behavior and unhelpfulness in resolving the issue. This comment stands out among the others, as it paints a negative image of the pub and its management. It is unclear if this is an isolated incident or if other customers have had similar experiences.
There is also one comment mentioning that the food took a long time to arrive, and this is not the first time it has happened. This suggests that there might be occasional issues with efficiency in the kitchen or with the staff's ability to deliver meals in a timely manner.
On the positive side, one customer mentions having had their wedding and two wakes at The Red Lion, stating that nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. This comment reflects the pub's ability to accommodate and cater to special events and demonstrates their commitment to customer satisfaction.
In summary, The Red Lion pub has several strengths, including good home-cooked food, friendly and efficient service, a separate bar area from the dining area, and a dog-friendly policy. Customers also appreciate the good value for money they receive compared to other places. However, there are a few weaknesses mentioned, such as occasional delays in food delivery and one incident of poor customer service. It is important for the pub to address these issues to maintain its positive reputation and keep customers satisfied.
