Quick Facts About The Park Pavilion Café Devonport

The Park Pavilion Café in Devonport Place has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, several positive aspects of the café are highlighted. Firstly, it is praised for its excellent value. This indicates that customers perceive the prices to be reasonable and affordable, which is important in attracting and retaining customers. Additionally, the café receives praise for its food quality. The bacon and egg bap and spicy garlic chicken are particularly mentioned as being delicious. This suggests that the café offers tasty and flavorful options for both breakfast and lunch. Furthermore, the Saturday service is commended as being good, especially considering the busy nature of the café. This indicates that the staff is able to handle high levels of business and provide efficient and friendly service. The café also boasts a 5-star hygiene rating, which is an important factor in ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the establishment.
In terms of weaknesses, there are a few areas for improvement. One comment mentions that the café is "scruffy" in places and the area behind the counter looks untidy. This signifies that the cleanliness and overall appearance of the café could be improved. Another negative comment relates to a customer's experience with a cream tea. The customer states that everything was very dirty and their cream tea was served with salted melted butter, which they found gross. This indicates that there may be issues with cleanliness and quality control in food preparation. Additionally, the customer mentions that they were not informed beforehand that the café had run out of clotted cream and were served melted salted butter instead. This suggests a lack of communication between staff and customers, which can result in customer dissatisfaction. Another area for improvement highlighted in a comment is the lack of barista training for the staff. One customer ordered a flat white but received a milky coffee with no foam, which was disappointing. This suggests that training and expertise in coffee preparation could be improved in order to enhance the overall coffee quality and customer experience. Lastly, a comment mentions a concern regarding the lack of mask-wearing and dividers, although acknowledging that some individuals may be medically exempt. This implies that there may be a need for clearer guidelines and protocols relating to COVID-19 safety measures to ensure the health and safety of both staff and customers.
Overall, The Park Pavilion Café in Devonport Place has strengths in terms of its value, food quality, and efficient Saturday service. However, there are areas for improvement, including cleanliness, communication with customers, barista training, and adhering to COVID-19 safety measures. By addressing these weaknesses, the café has the potential to become an exceptional establishment in a beautiful location.

Excellent value cafe in Devonport Park. The bacon and egg bap was very good with soft bread. The spicy garlic chicken was suitably spicy and came with a good portion of chips and salad. Saturday service was good especially considering how busy it was. It is a little scruffy in places and behind the counter looked untidy. Still it has a 5 star hygiene rating.
our family walking area,we pack sandwiches and homemade cake, peaceful,I like to take photos there too
Cheap. Takes apple pay/contact less. Convenient place to stop by after walking the dog However, I ordered a cream tea there last week and everything was very dirty and my cream tea was served with salted melted butter. Was gross. I wasn't told before when ordering that they ran out of clotted cream. Not really a good substitute and j wouldn't have purchased it if I knew it was served with melted salted butter....
Staff Could Do With Some Barista Training
This cafe is located in a beautiful spot and could really be something special. Lots of outside seating available which overlook the little play area, so great for keeping an eye on little ones whilst having a coffee. The cafe is dog friendly as well.
I didn't order hot food, just ice cream and coffee. The ice cream was lovely and was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids!
A couple of less positive points: staff really need some barista training as I ordered a flat white and got a milky coffee with no foam, which was disappointing. Decent coffee could really make this place great and would make a regular customer out of me!
I also noted that one of the ladies behind the counter didn't have a mask on and there are no dividers. I understand some people are medically exempt from masks but maybe she'd have been better not serving face to face in that case. Aside from that the staff were all very friendly and efficient.
Amazing cafe with incredibly friendly staff. Food has always been tasty when it have visited with my family. It is right in the middle of Devonport Park so a fantastic place to make a pit stop for parents and children while exploring the surroundings or playing in the park. 100% recommend thos cafe.
Excellent place for lunch and a coffee. Friendly staff.
What a nice, welcoming cafe. Proper mugs of tea, fresh cake in generous slices, and even dog treats for our furry friend.
It’s such a shame this was not a good experience, as it’s in a really good location for the park or the Soap Box theatre.
I was instantly struck by how downbeat the decor was, everything looks really tired and quite depressing.
I tried to order food which I found confusing with no menus or signage. When I asked how it all worked I wasn’t exactly greeted with the warmest welcome.
Staff training could be worked on. Staff weren’t rude, just blunt, miserable and unhelpful.
We ordered a panini, sandwich and Mac and cheese. It was all quite standard apart from the Mac and cheese which was inedible, it tasted more like custard.
When I tried to use the baby changing facilities I found them to be locked. When I requested access I was directed to the disabled toilet where there was a stretcher/operating table to use. The slippery table was completely unsuitable to change a baby on, it was very easy to fall off without a side or a straps.
We unfortunately won’t be returning.
