Best PlaceJuice Reviews

Almost cold chips with a jumbo sausage in batter that hat very small fragments of bone in them.
This shop was one of the best in suffolk 5 years ago and I was a regular customer. I stopped going about 3 years ago as our daily plans changed at that time, the standards were already droipping but now I will never go in there again.
I'm really disappointed! Each time I order I ask for at least golden chips as they are always dry and actually not very nice! I asked for salt and vinegar and they didnt even have that the chips are awful like they had been last nights chips reheated! I have given cod father many oputunities butsadly I need to find a decent chippy
It seems to have changed since I tried it over a year ago. Very generous portions now. Batter is thin which is exactly how I like it, chips are tasty, curry sauce is perfect. Best fish and chips we've had in a long time!
Friendly staff and cooked to order when quiet.
12 pieces of Scampi for £5.70 and a little extra for Chips.. £1.40 for a cone, £2.40 for Med and £3.00 for Large can't complain.
Very disappointed with my chips today 19/8/22 the little man who serves normally gives you a big portion and freshly cooked while still hot. Well tonight they were cold and the size was really small ideal for an infant. Certainly wasn't worth the money. Would normally give 5* but coz of this I can't.
You really do get value for money in here. The portions are very generous. I've had fish and chips here several times and the fish has always been big. Lots of chips too.
The only thing I would say is i'd like to see something about the taste of their chips ect to be a bit different. A lot of the chippy's around Bury have their own distinct taste, maybe due to what they fry in and I feel like this place could really do with that. It's very generic tasting. It's good food. Generous portions but it doesn't stand out as much as it could and I think that could really put this place on the map.
This Fish and Chip shop has definitely gone down hill. Do not any longer like their fish and chips. Chips to big, and tasteless , fish batter even stuck to paper. Definitely would not return ever again.
Counter staff nice and polite. The fish was really greasy though and all three just fell apart taking out of paper. The food was tasty enough but for the second time I've asked for 3 Haddock and got 3 Cod - I mean, its not hard to tell......

Quick Facts About The Codfather

One of the strengths mentioned by a customer is that The Codfather offers generous portions. They mention that the fish and chips are served in large quantities, ensuring that customers get value for their money. This is an important aspect for those looking for a fulfilling meal. The comment also mentions that the batter is thin, which appeals to some individuals who prefer their fish to have a lighter coating. Additionally, the curry sauce is praised for being "perfect", suggesting that the condiments at The Codfather are flavorsome.
Another strength pointed out by a different customer is the friendly staff. The comment states that the counter staff is nice and polite, emphasizing the positive customer service experience. Friendly service can significantly contribute to a positive dining experience and encourage customers to return.
However, there are also several weaknesses that are mentioned by different customers. One recurring complaint is the quality of the chips. Multiple customers mention that the chips are dry and not very appetizing. Some comments even describe the chips as being reheated leftovers from the previous night. This indicates a lack of quality control in the preparation of the chips, which can be detrimental to the overall dining experience.
Another weakness that is highlighted in the comments is the inconsistency in portion sizes and temperatures. One customer mentions that the chips they received were cold and significantly smaller than usual. This suggests a lack of consistency in the cooking process, which can lead to customer dissatisfaction. Another customer mentions that the fish was greasy and fell apart easily, indicating a potential issue with the cooking technique or oil used.
In terms of taste, one customer suggests that The Codfather's food is generic and does not stand out compared to other chip shops in the area. They mention that other establishments have a distinct taste, possibly due to the frying medium used. This comment suggests that The Codfather could benefit from developing a signature flavor or finding a way to make their food more memorable.
Additionally, one customer expresses disappointment in receiving the wrong type of fish, indicating a lack of attention to detail or communication issues within the establishment.
In summary, the strengths of The Codfather based on the comments include generous portions, friendly staff, and a reasonably priced menu. On the other hand, weaknesses include issues with the quality and taste of the chips, inconsistency in portion sizes and temperatures, and a lack of distinct flavor. These weaknesses can negatively impact the dining experience and may deter some customers from returning. Addressing these shortcomings and focusing on improving the quality and consistency of the food could help The Codfather regain its position as one of the best fish and chip shops in Suffolk.
