Best PlaceJuice Reviews

Lovely little pub which we believe has just reopened after a refurbishment. Lovely decor and attentive staff. Great bar selection. We had burgers which were quite underwhelming tbh, just beef/chicken in a bun with chips. Quite unusual as these days burgers are normally 'loaded', however most of the food on the menu we did see served looked great. Best of luck as this place looks promising and hope to return
The Arnold Arms reopened on 9/12/22, under new management, after an extensive refurbishment and investment. It is staggering to see the difference compared to how it was in years gone by. It is now warm, immaculate, stylish, well furnished and welcoming. They have a wide selection or beers, wines and spirits and an excellent menu. Well worth travelling to for a meal out in a proper country pub. Thoroughly recommended!
Stopped as first-time customers for their steak night as we had never been to this pub before!
What a great experience. Open fires, friendly staff and a cosy environment!
We had a fantastic, well presented meal, and to be honest, we can't wait to visit the pub again.
If you've not been to this pub, try it. it's well worth it.
It was a mixed experience. The pub is really clean and the staff are very good, especially Inga. At first 3 of our meals came out and all the veg were cold and really hard. They had not had much cooking. They replaced our meals and the veg were hot but still really hard and not easy to cut. We were immediately offered a free drink for the inconvenience. So we all had coffee. They have not been open long and l feel it is teething troubles. We will try again in a few months. The actual main part of the meals were very good. It would be easy for them to just cook the veg a little longer.
We dined at the Arnold Arms in Barby a couple of weeks ago and the food was generally good, the ambience nice and the service friendly.
There are a few areas however which make the reservation side quite frustrating, and the menu is not available on the web page.
I booked a table for 8 people and was required to pay £40 up front, which I've never had to do before, and when I needed to reduce this to 6 people the only way using their user non-friendly system, was to rebook and then be asked to pay another £30.
It does not seem possible to amend a booking that has already been made - which is ridiculous!
This issue is made worse because they never answer the phone despite 8 attempts at different times when, they were supposedly open.
The score would be higher except for these frustrations.
Have been to the arnold a few times since being reopened. I think Jeremy & Lorraine deserve huge credit for the work that has gone into making this into such a fantastic venue to eat, drink and socialise. Highly recommend a visit regardless of the occasion. Keep it up guys.
Nice location, venue and staff but the food was just not as advertised. A burger advertised as brioche bun but was just a roll, unseasoned burger with no salad or anything inside. The Side salad wasn't very fresh at all, it looked and tasted like it was made a few days ago. The ciabatta wasn't ciabatta and was covered in cheese and greasy. The desserts were good and staff lovely but just not worth the price unfortunately
Refurbished village pub with parking area. Standard menu with Pensioner Specials at a lower price. The starters were quite generous but the main dishes were small portions eg 5 pieces of scampi!

Quick Facts About The Arnold Arms, Barby

Overall, The Arnold Arms in Barby has a number of strengths that make it an attractive option for visitors. The pub has recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and investment, resulting in a warm, immaculate, and stylish interior. The decor is lovely, creating a welcoming and cozy environment. The staff are described as attentive, friendly, and accommodating, which adds to the overall positive experience. Additionally, the bar selection is great, offering a wide variety of beers, wines, and spirits.
One of the particular strengths mentioned is the menu. While the commenter found the burgers to be underwhelming, they noted that most of the other food on the menu looked great and well-presented. This suggests that the pub offers a diverse range of options to cater to different tastes. The commenter also mentioned a fantastic, well-presented meal, indicating that the overall quality of the food can be good. The pub also offers a steak night, which was described as a great experience.
Another strength of The Arnold Arms is its ambiance. The pub features open fires, which adds to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. This, combined with the friendly staff and clean surroundings, creates a pleasant environment for patrons to enjoy their visit.
However, the pub does have some weaknesses that should be considered. One major concern raised by a commenter is the quality of the vegetables served with meals. On one occasion, the vegetables were described as cold and hard, indicating a lack of proper cooking. While the pub promptly replaced the meals and offered a free drink, the commenter suggested that the issue may be teething troubles due to the pub recently reopening. The fact that the main part of the meals was very good suggests that the issue primarily lies with the vegetable side dishes.
Another weakness discussed is the difficulty in making and amending reservations. The pub requires a payment upfront for larger bookings, which can be inconvenient for some customers. Additionally, the booking system was described as non-user-friendly, and it was not possible to amend bookings once made. This frustration is compounded by the fact that the pub does not answer the phone reliably, making it difficult to communicate and resolve any issues.
In terms of the food, there were mixed reviews. While some commented on the generally good quality of the food and desserts, others felt that the food did not live up to its advertised description. Discrepancies between the advertised brioche bun and the actual roll for a burger were mentioned, as well as unseasoned burgers with no salad or fillings. The freshness of side salads and the quality of ciabatta were also questioned. These inconsistencies may indicate a lack of attention to detail and quality control in the kitchen.
Portion sizes were another concern raised by a commenter. While the starters were described as quite generous, the main dishes were perceived as small. An example given was receiving only five pieces of scampi, which may seem skimpy to some customers.
In conclusion, The Arnold Arms in Barby has several strengths, such as its lovely decor, attentive staff, great bar selection, and promising menu. However, there are some weaknesses to consider, including inconsistent food quality and portions, teething troubles with vegetable dishes, challenges with the reservation system, and communication issues. Despite these weaknesses, many commenters recommend giving the pub a visit, acknowledging the effort put into making it a fantastic venue.
