Position of the hotel was great, the size of the room was brilliant and the view of the harbour fantastic, however, the room was very tired, bed was over firm and led to a poor night's sleep, the wall was stained, all the woodwork is in need of a repaint, the bath was stained, the windows were ill fitting and due to the weather whistled during the night. There was a very noisy fan in the bathroom connected to the light so could not use the light in the bathroom overnight, I suspect that the hotel isn't being kept in the best order as there have been plans submitted to knock it down and build a new hotel/flat complex.
Had a fantastic 3 day break here, very clean and well run hotel. The breakfast was also well worth the expense. Along with it being dog friendly.
The location is absolutely brilliant, right on the harbour with lots of pubs close by in the old town serving food and of course drinks.
Rooms with a harbour view overlook Brown Sea Island and Corfe Castle in the distance.
We would definitely stay again.
Went for afternoon tea. Place is quite shabby but the staff were friendly. The view from the restaurant was lovely over Poole Quay. The tea was adequate but only one scone each and the cakes were ordinary. One major gripe is that mayonnaise is put in all the sandwiches - not everyone likes it!! However all in all it was a pleasant time.
Wasn't overly happy with the experience on Tuesday. Sandwiches are either soggy, stale or have fingerprints the bread literally mushed....cakes and scones seem store bought an cut, it was instant coffee and it was burnt, and the tea had no flavour with 1 cheap teabag. Place is so understaffed that they couldn't fit 1 extra person to have lunch booked without 24 hours notice, and when there's a few more people wanting breakfast then they display it buffet style under scorching hot-lights, which treats the food as expected. Dry as anything. You can stay the night but don't expect perfect isolation in the room.
Ideal location with great views from your window. Rooms are a little bit worn & could do with repainting and updating but bathroom you couldn’t fault..
Breakfast wasn’t great at all both mornings..
5 stars location & view but 3 stars the rest.
Someone said at breakfast it was like faulty towers
It was okay. One star less because I can hear people talking outside my door as well as the extractor fans of the other rooms nearby. If you’re trying to sleep at night, it’s really annoying. Also the information pack doesn’t have anything useful.
Great location, with convenient parking at the back. Restaurant is on the first floor so you can have breakfast and enjoy the sea view. The staff are nice and cheerful.
We had a cream tea, tea was cold, the sandwiches and cakes looked like they had been prepared well in advance and dried up. The cakes were like a packet mix cake definitely not home made. The strawberries for garnish had areas that were going off. Would definitely not go again, avoid.

Quick Facts About Poole Quay Hotel

Poole Quay Hotel has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the main strengths of the hotel is its exceptional location. It is situated right on the harbor, offering stunning views of the waterfront and easy access to surrounding pubs and restaurants. This proximity to local attractions and amenities is highly appreciated by guests.
The size of the rooms is another notable strength. The comments mention that the rooms are spacious, allowing guests to feel comfortable during their stay. Additionally, some rooms offer views of Brown Sea Island and Corfe Castle, which adds to the overall experience.
The breakfast at the hotel is also commended in the comments. Guests mention that there was plenty of variety and that the quality of the food was good. This is an important aspect for many travelers, as a satisfying breakfast can set the tone for the rest of the day.
Furthermore, the hotel is dog-friendly, which is a bonus for guests who wish to bring their pets along. This shows that the hotel is accommodating and willing to cater to the needs of various guests.
However, there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed. The most common complaint revolves around the condition of the rooms. Multiple comments mention that the rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment. Issues such as stained walls, ill-fitting windows, and worn woodwork are raised. These complaints indicate a lack of attention to maintenance and may contribute to a less enjoyable stay for some guests.
Another significant issue mentioned is the poor quality of sleep due to uncomfortable beds. Guests state that the beds were over firm, leading to discomfort and a restless night. This is a crucial aspect, as a good night's sleep is essential for an enjoyable hotel experience.
Furthermore, there are several complaints about the restaurant and food quality. Comments mention cold tea, sandwiches with mayonnaise (not to everyone's liking), generic and unimpressive cakes, and strawberries that appeared to be going off. These concerns highlight a lack of attention to detail and potentially subpar food preparation.
The understaffing issue mentioned by a guest is also a point of concern. It is noted that the hotel couldn't accommodate an additional person for lunch without 24 hours notice and that breakfast was displayed buffet-style under hot-lights, resulting in dry food. This suggests that the hotel may struggle with providing efficient service during peak times, which can negatively impact the overall experience for guests.
Noise appears to be another recurring problem. Guests mention being disturbed by conversations outside their room and the noise from extractor fans in neighboring rooms. These disturbances can be frustrating and lead to a lack of restful sleep.
Lastly, the hotel's information pack is criticized for lacking useful information, which can be inconvenient for guests who rely on such resources.
In conclusion, while Poole Quay Hotel has strengths such as its prime location, spacious rooms, and satisfactory breakfast, it also has significant weaknesses. These include worn rooms, uncomfortable beds, subpar food quality, understaffing issues, noise disturbances, and a lack of useful information. Addressing these weaknesses would greatly improve the overall experience for guests and enhance the hotel's reputation.
