Wonderful traditional pub. No music. No screens or gambling machines. Just good beer and good company too. Very dog friendly!

Had a night in Ripon and was shocked to discover the state of the pubs. We expected black sheep bitter and log fires but it was like going back 20 years, john smiths and carling! The only decent pub we found was the one eyed rat! Decent cask ale, real pork pies and attentive staff. A shining light in the depressing Ripon pub scene.
Would definitely return if stuck in the area again.
