Clean, low prices, owner very nice kind & friendly. Historic Hastings Bar
Better Dive Bar than most of Denvers.
If you're looking for a "Cheers-type bar" where everyone knows your name, this is it. We like to watch them play pool, and we enjoy the camaraderie.
Nice and mellow spot to chill out or play a game pool or a Addam's Family pinball machine. Friendly people quility staff. Plus the repainting outside is extremely nice.
She been open since 1978 and I have been going there for a long time. She is 83 yrs old and is one beautiful woman. So u should go down and check it out for yourself. I love her with all my heart and soul.
You're looking for a local hometown bar this is it. The owner has owned the bar for many many years. She's 80 years old and she still cooks m-f. You can get homemade lunch special for $4.50. This is the Cheers Bar of Hastings where everybody knows your name.
The Last of the Mohicans! The only bar that is still originally owned and operated by the same owner for the last three to four decades. Has cheers feel, and if you miss Virginia's $4.50 home cooked lunch specials, you've missed out!
The people working there are nice and polite it's a nice place to go

Quick Facts About Olive Saloon

and unwind after a long day. The prices are affordable compared to other bars in the area, making it a great option for those on a budget. Additionally, the owner of Olive Saloon is known for being kind, friendly, and welcoming to all patrons. This creates a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.
One of the significant strengths of the Olive Saloon is its historical significance as the Hastings Bar. Having been open since 1978, it holds a special place in the community and has become a staple for many locals. The longevity and stability of the ownership also contribute to its appeal, as it is the last bar in the area that is still owned and operated by the same owner for several decades.
The bar is often praised for its dive bar ambiance, with many commenting that it is better than most bars in Denver. For those looking for a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, Olive Saloon provides the perfect setting. Whether you want to chill out, play pool, or enjoy a game on the Addam's Family pinball machine, the bar offers a variety of entertaining options.
A recurring theme in the comments is the sense of camaraderie and community that one feels at Olive Saloon. It is often referred to as the "Cheers-type bar," where everyone knows your name. This creates a sense of belonging and fosters relationships among regulars. Many patrons enjoy watching others play pool, engaging in conversations, and forming friendships. The friendly and welcoming staff add to this sense of community, making each visit to Olive Saloon a memorable and enjoyable experience.
Another strength is the recent repainting outside the bar. Commenters specifically mention how nice and well-maintained it looks, which reflects positively on the overall image of the establishment. A clean and well-kept appearance can attract new customers and contribute to the overall ambiance of the place.
While the comments overwhelmingly highlight the positive aspects of Olive Saloon, there are a few weaknesses that can be gleaned from the feedback. Firstly, most of the comments focus on the bar's atmosphere and community, but there is little mention of the drink selection or quality. While this may not be a significant issue for the regulars who enjoy the Cheers-type experience, it may not appeal to those seeking a wide range of high-quality drinks or craft beers.
Additionally, the focus on the food specials, particularly the $4.50 homemade lunch, suggests that Olive Saloon may not offer an extensive food menu or a diverse culinary experience. While the homemade lunch special is celebrated by many, those looking for a wider range of dining options may be left wanting.
Furthermore, the limited comments about renovations or updates to the bar suggest that Olive Saloon may lack modern amenities found in contemporary bars, such as high-definition televisions or innovative entertainment options. While the dive bar atmosphere may be a point of appeal to some, others may desire a more modern and up-to-date environment.
In conclusion, Olive Saloon, or the Hastings Bar, possesses several strengths that make it a popular spot among locals. The historical significance and long-term ownership contribute to its appeal, as does the friendly and welcoming atmosphere created by the owner and staff. The affordable prices, sense of community, and entertainment options further add to its strengths. However, the limited mentions of drink selection, food options, and lack of modern amenities suggest some weaknesses that may deter certain individuals seeking a more diverse experience. Overall, Olive Saloon stands out as a beloved local bar with a strong sense of community and a nostalgic charm.
