Perogie festable
I attended the Edwardsville Pierogi Festival at the park this weekend. There was a parade and plenty of vendors showcasing many Polish dishes, but mainly featuring pierogi. The park was large enough to have about 40-50 vendors, plus rides like a carousel and a ferris wheel. A very enjoyable day that also included live music!
Its a very nice park ???? however, it is near Eagle Ridge Apts ????. Try to be mindful of that.
Has the potential to be nice but with numerous low income housing projects nearby, a lot of undesirable people live in them, mainly from NY and NJ, pretty sure a decent amount of illegals, too... always broken glass there, have found a needle or two as well. Won't take my kid there.
Pierogi festival lot of people good bands but not many pierogies this year but they have a lot of other different food
Edwardsville Pierogi Festival was held here June 2018. Park is huge and beautiful! Plenty of places for sports and kids to play. Grass was lush and the ground was clean.
Pierogi fest was amazing! ????
Went to a outside craft show & flea market very nice but unfortunately it was raining pretty hard all day sponsor by Edwardsville pierogi. I'll go again if they have one

Quick Facts About John J. Hopkins Memorial Park

John J. Hopkins Memorial Park has both strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. One of the main strengths is its ability to host large-scale events, such as the Edwardsville Pierogi Festival. This event attracted many vendors, offered a variety of Polish dishes, and included live music. The park's size was able to accommodate the large number of participants and rides like a carousel and ferris wheel. This highlights the park's capacity to hold diverse and entertaining events.
Additionally, the comment mentioning the park's beauty and cleanliness indicates that it is well-maintained. The lush grass and clean grounds contribute to a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. The park also provides ample space for sports and activities for children, reinforcing its potential as a recreational area.
However, there are some concerns expressed in the comments that reveal weaknesses of the park. One comment mentions the proximity to Eagle Ridge Apartments, which raises a concern about potential noise or disturbances. Although this is not explicitly mentioned as a negative aspect, it is a factor to consider for individuals who prioritize a peaceful environment.
Another comment expresses concerns about the presence of low-income housing projects nearby. The mention of "undesirable people" from New York and New Jersey, as well as a potential presence of illegal immigrants, implies a negative perception of the community surrounding the park. This perception may deter some individuals from visiting the park due to safety concerns or stereotypes about the residents of the nearby housing projects.
The comment about finding broken glass and needles in the park adds to the safety concerns. The presence of hazardous materials in a recreational space is worrisome and may discourage families from bringing their children to play there. This negative experience was enough to dissuade one commenter from bringing their child to the park altogether.
On the positive side, comments praising specific events like the Pierogi Festival and craft shows indicate that the park has the potential to attract various cultural and recreational activities. These events can bring communities together and contribute to the enrichment of the park's atmosphere.
In conclusion, John J. Hopkins Memorial Park has several strengths, such as its ability to host large-scale events, its beauty, and its potential for recreational activities. However, there are also weaknesses highlighted, including concerns about the nearby housing projects, safety issues, and potential disturbances. It is important to consider the diverse perspectives represented in the comments and address any concerns in order to improve the overall experience and reputation of the park.
