Howie's Cafe was the very first food establishment we tried when we moved into our home in Salem, AL.

The only initial downfall we experienced was that they stopped serving breakfast at 11 and we got there a few minutes after, craving breakfast food!

However, we ordered our lunch to go and it was not disappointing. My husband got the Buffalo chicken tender sandwich and I got the country fried steak with their cornbread and greens (one of the best greens I've ever had).

Since then, we have ordered breakfast food to go twice and it has been some of the best.

Our go-to breakfast has been:

Big Boy Breakfast with sausage patties + scrambled eggs

Country fried steak with gravy on the side, hash browns, and pancakes

You HAVE to try this place and the women who work here are so sweet!

Great breakfast and lunch options and it's local! Great food and service every time.

They make you feel at home. The only difference is you don't have to cook. One of the best breakfasts I have had.

Me and my buddies first time here. Excellent breakfast! The waitresses were so nice and friendly. Got our food quickly and on time and hot! We will be back.

Definitely glad we found this place! They serve Breakfast till 11am and All-day Saturday! That alone was a bonus, but we liked the portions and the prices! You do get your money's worth. Visited twice in a week, staff super friendly. I guess they share tables, tasks? We were served or helped by at least 3 different servers, but it's nice they take care of you. Food was abundant, average Diner style menu, great home fries! We will be back.

Loved it! Learned what SOS is and I’ll definitely be ordering it again next time I eat here… which will be very soon. Also Super sweet girls working the tables that made us feel like family within minutes!

The food is excellent, the staff is very friendly, and the prices are very good
