Ordered special fried rice. The rice was dry and hard and the meat also dry. Tasted as if it had been cooked twice or over cooked. Won't use this chippy again. Really disappointed as it use to be good few yrs back.
Absolutely gorgeous chips, huge portions and piping hot. Fish was massive and not swimming in grease. Would highly recommend this chippy, I'm still thinking about it and it's the next day!
Great plaice/place to go for fish and chips. Chinese food is ok but there is better. Nothing wrong with it, just better. All food is based on my taste buds so don't go because I said so.
Just had a large order from the Golden fry 2, Greasby…and it was all lovely and hot/ fresh. There was nothing missing and everyone enjoyed the food including the children….thanks
I live in NYC now but it's the first dinner I have when back home. It had been my local chippy since i was born (almost 50 yrs now!). Fish, chips and mushy peas. Lots of salt and vinegar. The wife who is from NYC has been know to stand outside waiting for them to open. She's Dominican and knows her fried food. I took a buddy who is Trinidadian over for a footie match and he went back right after digging into fish n chips to get another portion...granted he'd had a few beers at that point. Only thing (and it has nothing to do with this chippy) is how expensive it's gotten. I recall fish n chips for a pound in me teens...I think.
Small portion sizes of chips. When I saw the regular size being served it didn't look much so asked to make it a large portion. She added the tip of a scoop amount of about 6chips extra, so basicly still a regular sized portion, but charged extra. I stopped going here after the last two occasions the large portion sizes were not enough to go around the family at dinner. One person got none as ran out. They are also stingy with the salt and vinegar resulting in tasteless chips. My grandmother stopped going there after she was short changed which they denied and refused to check. Used to be a good chip shop years ago but now they are penny pinchers. They only take cash, not updating for card payments, Again probably to save more money!
There used to be a tips box which went 'missing' one quiet lunch time, the young teenaged employee working there at the time did not get a share in the tips. We believe the people running the shop took it for themselves as there was a large amount of tips that year which they did not want to share with the part time employee. Needless to say Il be going elsewhere in future.
The food is fresh. You get huge portions. Reasonably cheap and well worth the very short wait. It's probably advisable to call to book your order then you can pick it up without waiting. Get home and enjoy. That's it, I'm going for tonight dinner. It is a cash only place. Which doesn't bother me. I have seen idiots complain about that. I don't know why as it doesn't bother anyone else. The food is really good the Chinese meals are delicious
