The food was great. Only disappointment was that the cafe cannot accept card payments.
How the other shops can accept payment but the cafe doesn’t?
There is a cash point close by, but I don’t normally carry any cards to take cash out.
I will not be returning for that reason.
Came here late morning to have a look. There seems to be a large menu with plenty of choice. Paninis, coffees, breakfasts, cakes and a separate children's menu. There was a long queue to get served so could eat here today as I was in a rush to get some errands done. Will certainly consider this cafe in the future when there are less people waiting.
Fabulous afternoon tea for Mothers Day, thank you, looked lovely and was lovely
Very friendly staff and clean, as a toilet disable and great hot chocolate. ☕????????
Great local cafe in Tonteg. Would 100% recommend.
Amazing bacon roll snd black coffee, highly recommended
Absolutely phenomenal and wonderful to be able to revisit such a welcoming establishment after I had been away with a debilitating injury for a long time. I know that the owners and staff have been struggling to maintain this precious hub of the community and they deserve our support to continue to preserve their Café Rana in our community. Jeff Hunt.
I have been a customer of this cafe for 7 years; when I moved away from the area I drove from rhoose once a week to visit with my son as it is such a lovely, friendly place, with good food. It is very baby and child friendly (I first came when my son was a week old, and he still enjoys coming now 7 years later.) Many of the staff have been at the cafe many years and are very friendly. I am so pleased that Wendy is now the owner as I know the cafe will continue to provide a wonderful service to the community. I would recommend this cafe to everyone.

Quick Facts About Cafe Rana

Cafe Rana, based on the comments provided, has several strengths and weaknesses. In terms of strengths, the food quality is highly praised, with comments such as "The food was great" and "Amazing bacon roll and black coffee, highly recommended." The café offers a wide variety of options, including paninis, breakfasts, cakes, and a separate children's menu, making it suitable for various preferences and dietary requirements. Furthermore, the café is described as a welcoming establishment that acts as a hub within the community. This is evident in comments like "Great local cafe in Tonteg" and "Very friendly staff and clean, as a toilet disable and great hot chocolate."
Another notable strength is the positive feedback regarding the afternoon tea provided at the café. Customers have expressed gratitude with comments like "Fabulous afternoon tea for Mother's Day, thank you, looked lovely and was lovely." This indicates that the café is capable of providing special and memorable experiences for its customers.
In terms of weakness, the main issue customers have highlighted is the café's inability to accept card payments. One comment states, "Only disappointment was that the café cannot accept card payments." This becomes a problem for individuals who do not carry cash or prefer the convenience of card payments. The inconvenience this creates is emphasized by a customer who states, "There is a cash point close by, but I don't normally carry any cards to take cash out." This issue of payment method leads to another negative comment which states, "I will not be returning for that reason." This indicates that the café might be losing some potential returning customers due to its payment policy.
However, it is worth noting that some customers appreciate the café for its strengths despite this weakness. For example, one individual mentions, "Came here late morning to have a look. There seems to be a large menu with plenty of choice. There was a long queue to get served so could not eat here today as I was in a rush to get some errands done. Will certainly consider this café in the future when there are fewer people waiting." This suggests that while the café does have its drawback, the quality of the food and the overall experience may still entice customers to return when there is less congestion.
Additionally, another strength highlighted in the comments is the longevity of the café and the loyalty it has built with its customers. One individual states, "I have been a customer of this café for 7 years." This demonstrates that the café has managed to maintain a loyal customer base, with one person even driving long distances to visit. The continuity of the staff is also appreciated, as comments like "Many of the staff have been at the café for many years and are very friendly" suggest stability and familiarity for the customers.
Overall, Café Rana possesses several notable strengths such as great food, a wide variety of options, a friendly staff, and its role as a community hub. However, the café's refusal to accept card payments is a weakness that could potentially deter some customers from returning. Nevertheless, the café's loyal customer base and positive experiences reported by customers indicate that the café's strengths may outweigh its weaknesses for many individuals.
